Default ‘04 TG- Non Titled Boat?

I recently paid off my ‘04 Gun and realized the credit Union never sent me the title. I called them and they stated Tx Wildlife has it listed as a non-titled boat. I was like WTF?!?!? How do you sell a boat without a title. I’ve never actually seen the title as the previous owner didn’t own it out right, so his bank sent my CU it. I’m going to call Tx Wildlife tomorrow, but does this make any sense to anyone? Hoping it’s just a clerical mistake.

I should add that it’s registered thru USCG as a documented vessel. I own it, but do I if I can’t produce a title? Crazy…

You need to apply with a letter of deletion to the Coast Guard then once they release it you can apply for a title

So the boat never had a title? It was documented when I bought it as well. Or at somepoint, once it’s documented, it’s no longer needed? Surprised the CU would finance $100K without a title.

Yes a documented boat does not have a title, I purchased a couple boats over the years document it and I had to write a letter of deletion to the Coast Guard then they deleted from there list and Mail you back paperwork and then you go and apply for a title

Last 3 cigs were documented. No title. Banks and credit unions actually prefer documented boats over titles. He coast guard document is a history of transactions, and Liens. Its actually easier to track. Just check and make sure the original coast guard doc is clean with no lien left on it. The previous owner needed to pay off the lien to transfer and fulfill the documentation. It’s a process.

Very Helpful on the phone on what you need and answers

I’ve renewed the CG documents twice now, so it’s clear and in my name. Thanks again.
