Default LOTO - single boat incident

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — Three people were injured when a powerboat capsized around the 3.7 Mile Marker of the Glaize Arm, Sunday evening.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol posted a Tweet about the incident on Sunday, saying troopers were on the scene investigating the accident.

According to the MSHP report, the boat, a 2008 Cigarette driven by 41-year-old Derrick Grigsby of Sand Springs, Okla., was going too fast for the water conditions.

The boat hit rough water, rolled over, and capsized, MSHP Public Information Officer Kyle Green told LakeExpo. Three people were injured in the incident: Grigsby and a teenage boy had moderate injuries and were taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment. A teenage girl had minor injuries and declined treatment.

The boat was recovered and towed by Atlantis Dive & Dock Salvage and Lake Tow.

Wasn't that one of the boats in Speed on the Water/PBC's highlight film last week?

Glad nobody was seriously hurt, especially with 2 kids on board.

Agreed...with everyone going into the water at speed...bad things can happen fast!

**** happens, and not going to talk down the owner with the current facts.

both kids had life vest on, no crazy injuries, seems like a super bruised ego after this and some money to dry out the boat and get it back to prior conditions.

It was rougher than hell out on the water from Saturday on. Too many cruisers, high winds and dumb drivers. I had to make a couple dumb moves myself to keep all the passengers on the toon from getting swamped. Not a smart move on my part.
