Its a nice piece, but how much independent up and down drive movement does it allow for before binding?

Scarabman,

More than you should ever need.

Thanks. Brad.

I think it’s freakin hilarious that the company refused to make you these parts (that they obviously had in stock) and would only sell you a full set for ungodly amount and you turn around and get them made else ware for most likely less money that look fantastic and have same if not better build quality! I just love it!

Unfortunately your comment sums up the modern mentality clashing with old school ingenuity

Just so we are clear, not criticism at all, but JUST a question, as the tie bars I have had, have a joint between the rod end and the heim that allow substantial movement. I have had trim solenoids stick on several occassions over the years, so I look at it with that thought in mind.

Scarabman,

I have no doubt the limits of mobility in this system can be exceeded by a stuck solenoid or mindless trimming. My go-to solution to this is a sound maintenance schedule and vigilant attention to the boat's systems' behavior. With a system like this, rigidity comes in exchange for idiot-proof.

I do suppose one could machine a bevel around the inside U-channel of the brackets to accommodate more flexibility, without sacrificing hardly any rigidity or resilience in the assembly, if one were so concerned and/or inclined.

Thanks. Brad.

Tank, Latham has a cheerleaders on here, so I wasn`t going to mention them but yeah they can take their "we can`t sell you just parts" policy and shove it where the sun don`t shine... and according to my facebook feed I`m definitely not the only one they pissed off. Most people just go to IMCO after their Latham experience .
Some of these companies think they`re the only game in town sorry but a guy with some skills can make your $3600 tie bars for way less and design it stronger and better down to the set screws to lock the adjustment as a back up safety.

Company XXXXX wants $325 for their V band flange, I need 8 , not paying that either, I`ll have my own made .. BRAD!!! :D
