got some of the other things on my list to fix checked out last night. Cabin lighting and cockpit lighting. Most was already existing so I just had to re do/ re wire of it. Still trying to figure out my dash lights they don’t want to corporate yet it seems. Hope to splash tomorrow morning! Fingers crossed |
Good luck and have fun !

One more step.

installed red dresses for the cockpit floor and cuddy floor. Been wrapped up in the packing since 2016 or 17 when the interior got red done. I think it compliments it well! |
Man, you are making great headway! Yes that red does compliment the interior very well. Looks great. Good luck on the dunk in the water.

I’m trying!

I’m trying man! I give my self 2-3 hours a day on her but some days turn into 10-12hr days and nights just picking away at it a little at a time! I’m as nervous as a cat covering up s*** about dunking her after all I’ve been through with this dern thing most people would have prolly walked away lol! but I gotta do it sooner or later lol! Then I can finally put the engine hatch back on I took off nearly 3yrs ago! Then I can really focus on cosmetics and repairing or replacing the trailer! |
Happy!
Happy day! Don’t mind my ugly mug! But she runs very very good!! I am overly happy all the way around! Couple items to tidy up but other than that I am giving the thumbs up for now!

Congratulations, nice job. Enjoy it.

Comes out of the hole in seconds. Planes well. So happy about this dang thing! Next project is getting the hatch back on! |
Good job and good for you for hanging in there and not letting your dealings with that other guy put a bad taste in your mouth and walk away from it, enjoy!

I have everything ready to go for a test splash. Got to fire back off and test steering and possibly bleed out any air etc and just do one more good check of EVERYTHING before she pulls out of the shop maybe this week! Fingers crossed! She’s not as cool or as nice as any of yalls but I’m proud of this roller coaster of a boat LOL
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...2abd63623.jpeg BTW, I have heard running 2 tie bars can cause binding. Not 100% sure though. |

BTW, I have heard running 2 tie bars can cause binding. Not 100% sure though. I thought the same thing. My toolmaker brain saw that, and the fact that they are two different lengths, I started doing hypothetical trig in my head and.... I can't imagine they don't conflict with each other, imparting significant stress on all parts involved. 87CigCafe, Are you still running both tiebars? Thanks. Brad. |

I always wondered why in the world it has two? I just re-assembled the way it came apart LOL but it I where to take one off which would you do? |

Speaking strictly mechanically, the further from your pivot point, the more leverage. If I were designing a machine with similar geometries and vectored forces, I'd keep the rearmost tie bar. Others may have relevant experience saying otherwise. FWIW, again, speaking strictly mechanically, I can't think of a good reason to have two, even if they were both the same length. And again, others may have relevant experience that says otherwise. If I had to guess, I'd say a previous owner didn't like how the foremost tie bar was acting, so they added the rearmost one, trying to correct whatever, and didn't remove the foremost one, and every owner since has done exactly what you did. Thanks. Brad. |
Do you still have the inner tie bar attached in bilge?
|

I have the same steering setup. Originally had the lower tie bar too. Removed the lower and kept the upper only. I personally would remove the lower, especially with those heim joints. If you get your drives out of sync too far for whatever reason, that lower bar will bind before the top one.
|
I added the second (lower) tie bar on my 35 Nordic to use as a boarding ladder. It worked great and there was no binding. Unless you have a ladder, i would leave it alone.

:grinser010: This is all that "more relevant experience" I was referring to. I tend to see everything from a machine builder's perspective. I also have a single, so I don't have these 1st world problems. At the end of the day, if the second tiebar isn't causing any problems, there likely isn't any reason to remove it. The old, "If it ain't broke" resolution.... Thanks. Brad. |

Yeah... But I was raked in another thread for having the audacity to suggest something so "dumbassed" (citation redacted). Thanks. Brad. |
Hatch!
FINALLY got around to installing one of the very last pieces to this never ending puzzle it seems! The engine hatch is on! Was a pretty happy moment for me! LOL

How is the cruise RPM and vacuum? Thanks, Art |

Thanks, Art I can blow these 24’s out of the water I could stand to go up a couple pitches I believe and get the engines down to around 5600-5800 wot I can spin them well well past that now. I am going to be honest I didn’t concentrate too much on my rpm’s when I was pushing her up through the limits. I was watching all of my temperatures like a hawk or the best of my ability LOL first time ever running this boat and these engines. As for speed was on my cell phone, my wife’s cell phone and the GPS on the dash ( how accurate that is I don’t know ) she cruises GREAT with a little bit of trim tab around 35-40mph range with what seems like absolute zero effort from the engines. vaccum I can’t answer. |

Great to hear. I prefer running a bit more RPM on the top end as per your plan. Easier out of the hole, and not working hard on the cruise RPM.
The 317 Promaxx heads really seem to be working out. i will say one thing. The power and the “ pull “ they make throughout coming from and out of the whole and all the way up to higher rpms she truthfully pulls hard all things considered! Nothing like these other guys I’m sure but I really enjoy it so far! |
Good fight
Still fighting the good fight with this ol girl. Hopefully will have my reversion issues fixed now. All new stainless marine risers “ dry “ with over board dumps.

Does any water exit from the ends or is it all overboard mid-way?

No water exits the riser its self at the tip . Unfortunately going to have to drill some holes either on the side or at the transom to dump water. I’m still “ learning “ about dry exhaust but to me they look jacketed through out so I assume the whole thing gets cooled? but have a dump bong at the transom here is a photo of it zoomed in on the boat not bolted down or anything https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...842fe9dae.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...71d50d029.jpeg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...4dcb7532b0.png |
