SCX's on a 38 Topgun

Anyone of any experience with Imco SCX's on a 38? Particularly a straight bottom with over 700hp a side, or any other one. How did they hold up? How often did they need gone through?

Different animal but I put a set on my 2001 42 Tiger twin step with 800 Zul power. They are an amazing drive. put over 100 trouble free hours on them and talked to the guy who bought the boat and ran them another 4 years trouble free. The only knock is the lower case is a bit beefier and will scrub a few mile per hour. We got it back by playing with props and drive heights. I would never run anything else!

They are the top dog for a bravo application, some run the SCX upper and the SC lower where the bullet is more streamline than the SCX, I have no first hand experience but have read and seen several upgrades over the years, they would be a great upgrade for a step or flat bottom boat imo, remember the helmet will need changed out also.

The loss of speed really depends on if you talking about the older SCX or the newer Dual Downshaft SCX. The original SCX would cost a few mph, but the newer Dual Downshaft SCX will not.. I swapped from a SXC upper with a SC lower I had alll new last year to the full SCX setup this year on mine. I did not lose any speed making the swap on my AT.

I have run them for several yrs on my T/S. After the first 5 yrs I send back to Imco and got a call from Fred. He said I could just swap sides and run a few more yrs if i wanted. But I had them go thru anyway since he had them. Pretty minimal repair if i remember correctly.
And I was eating several XRs a season before I switched. 750++ per side.
Originally installed by Brad Smith in early 2013.
Probably lost some speed but the reliability beat all of that. One of the best things I did for my application.

I run scx uppers and sc lowers on my straight hull Tiger spinning in. 975ish per side and no issues what so ever. change fluid every 25 or so hours.

How many hours and how hard you run them offshoredrillin?

i put scx's on my 2008 ts with 525's and had zero issues in the 4 years i had it, they also helped the boat get on plane so much better that i was able to use labbed props, with the labbed props i didn't lose any speed.
in my opinion its the best modification you can do, with the bravos you always wonder when they will fail.

Arneson bravo kits, zero issues and gain some speed.
