Default The Snowball of "Unregistered Gun"

Just like the title says, what started small ended up growing and growing!! But I'm starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel and wanted to share!

It all started with the original Mercury Racing 525SC and this Accelerator Pump Nozzle screw, it backed out and the SC ate it and deposited it on a piston. That was end of season 2021.

I sat on it over winter trying to decide what I wanted to do, I always preferred EFI and I was like this is the time to upgrade. I spent some time looking for a pair of 500 or 525 EFI's. I found a set that needed overhauled and the price was right. I tore them down and sent the blocks to have them checked and rebuilt by R&R Performance, I had Saris Performance Marine build me a set of heads, then I decided they need to be fed by a set of Whipple 3.8's. After getting everything assembled I took them to Eddie Young to have him Dyno and Tune them. Glad to say I will be picking up some horsepower tomorrow!

But wait, there’s more. I also convinced myself the Transom Assemblies and Tabs needed attention. I worked out a deal for a pair of ITS transoms here on OSO and a year after I purchased them, they finally arrived! One ended up needing a lot of attention, but you live and you learn! I rebuilt the transoms with new powdercoat and components. I did end up with an Ebay score of a new set of Mercury 380 K-planes and using all digital indicators for trim/tabs. So, time for the existing holes in the transom to be repaired. Get it fixed and go to mount the ITS assemblies and they hit the swim platform brackets!! So, once I resolve this issue it will be WFO to get this thin assembled! Remember kids check fitment on everything!!

If anyone is looking to try and match the Mercury Racing Blue anodized pullies with powdercoat, its pretty hard. Here's what I cam up with:

Chrome Base with Lollipop Blue Top Coat

Some had said Illusion Blueberg, it has a lot of flake in it. Here's my PS reservoir.

Love it!!

I remember being next to you at the cig run and was drooling over that boat. Sofa king clean and nicely done. I was shocked when I looked down and saw it was a straight hull. Fantastic job on that thing!!
