The first sad weekend I’ve had because we couldn’t take the boat out. Plan on having out locally next weekend. I have however spent nearly every day on the boat getting to know her better. I found a wire disconnected from the fuel sender which was why the starboard gauge wasn’t working, found a leak in the accelerator pump and fixed, and repaired trailer lighting. I tried to crank the engines with the battery switches in the #1 position and they wouldn’t turn over until I switched to both. learning is occurring!!
I was looking at the Halon system and I understand they are obsolete and no longer in use or legal for that matter.
What do most here do with the older systems, do you replace or just check it for operability and hope to never need it. I don’t know that I’d trust the automated function but would like to know that I could activate if I needed to. I see the remote panel at the helm but it looks like there should be a key or a handle to manually fire the system, is there a way to replace these?
My swim platform from Phil at Lipship Marine will be here on Tuesday. It’s plain white which would match my boat but o was considered having it powder coated red or blue to match the boats accent colors. The oval on the platform is blank, should I try to have the cigarette logo painted, a decal or have sea deck make the oval in their material which would match the decking in the cockpit.

I’d leave the step white it’ll match the majority of the boat. Then do seadek on it and do the cig oval in seadek in the grey like your cockpit flooring.
halon? Uhhhhh, no clue.
sounds like you’ve been busy. 👍👍

I pulled my old Halon out and replaced it with the newest greatest gas that has no planned obsolescence. Only issue there was the bottle is 2x bigger than the old Halon one. Shopped online and found the right one, but is was still 900.00+ I called Fireboy and they were very helpful in directing me to the best option/size. One more thing on that whole process, I pulled the old Halon bottle out, the dash light was still showing green. The bottle felt strange, so I took it outside and opened it up, it was totally empty, no gas at all! Took out the pressure switch and it was bad, it was sending a false signal to the dash indicator. I had my boat surveyed and the surveyor noted on the report having an outdated fire suppression system, new insurance co did not like that. Replaced it for peace of mind and lower insurance.

I was afraid of the false positive, looks like peace of mind will only be replacing. Thank you for the info.

I just called the island marine fuel dock in Newport Beach to see if they had 91 octane at the pump. The clerk said it’s 87 octane but with Valv Tect’s marine additives which makes it 91 octane. Has anyone filled up there, does this sound legit? The price was like 4.40 a gallon and got cheaper if you bought more than 50 gallons. I don’t need 100 octane like some of you bad boys out there but I’m sure I need at least 91 and getting it at the dock would be nice.

NOPE!! F*ck all that!!
kinda why we haven’t done the Catalina fun run. Too many miles for a fill up and Catalina has 91 “by the barrel” and from my experience only sometimes.
don’t run 87 and octane in blower motors dude. No way!
