Default X dimension question

I have a early 80's 36' Flatdeck, it originally had TRS drives, I am cinverting to IIIA's. The new engines will be 850 HP SC's. Has anyone done this, should I raise the X, or go in the same place. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

I would call someone who has rigging experience with Cigs, like TNT or Tres at Martin.

Hope this helps:

We're putting 3A's on my '94 TG. Now this has a transom notch and yours doesn't, but it will give you a frame of reference.

I've spoken to Tres (who is a great guy), and he advised me to put the bullet of the drive at 3-1/2 inches from the bottom. We haven't run the boat yet, but we're confident it's correct.

I also checked the old '87 38' TG "Lethal Weapon" (transom notch also) which Ron Doller rerigged with #3 SSM's in 1995. The bullet on that is 4-1/2 inches.

I would suspect that since you don't have a step, 4-1/2 inches is the highest you could go without having planing problems.

Good luck

Barry

C. Barry, I am interested in installing 3As on my 93 -TRS 38, Do the engines stay close to where they are now? Will the tails on my CMI's come close to still fitting? What about hatch clearance? Thanks--- Kirk
