Klaw,
On my '88 Bullet I mounted them on the outside. The person that may know the pro's/con's would be Tres Martin or a guy named "Bing" from marine machine. Bing was very helpfull when I set mine up over 6 years ago. Good luck running the last two hoses thru the pvc up to the helm. What system did you finally go with?

Klaw,
My 38 has the cylinders mounted on the inside. This actually saved my drives when my Tie bar broke it pushed the drives away from each other. There is a pro for you.
