I WOULD SUGGEST THE 3A'S. I'M RUNNING 1000HP THROUGH EACH OF MINE ON A TOP GUN, AND THEY HAVE STOOD UP WELL,AND IT HAS SEEN SOME ROUGH OFFSHORE WATER.ALTHOUGH I DID LOOSE A U-JOINT LAST SUMMER THAT RIPPED EVERYTHING FROM THE BELLHOUSING TO THE TOP OF THE DRIVE.BUT, HELL WHAT'S 20,000 WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN.

stecz20,

what is the problem with the TRS? Can't they handle that power in your rig?

Donz,

I have owned many TRS boats over the years and have had great luck with them. They are much stronger than a Bravo and shift a hell of a lot better too because of the transmission required.

I'm currently running @700 hp through my TRS in an older Top Gun and for the most part they have worked real well. I'm sure if I was running Bravo drives I would have blown many over the past two seasons.

From my experience with them, 650 hp will be fine. I have been told that the TRS will live longer if you stay with a three blade prop. (4 blade will get a bit too much bite) and spin the motors a little higher (a tad lower pitch than called for) also to reduce load on the drive.

I would not be afraid of a TRS boat one bit. There are some incredible bargains out there right now, and now that Konrad offers the K-540 TRS replacement drive, TRS parts will not be an issue in the future.

biggus, you always make me smile when you post pictures of my new rig. i posted that in dec when i was kicking around with maybe getting #3's. i am very happy with the trs and will keep them as long it makes sense to. im not going to say it doesn not make any sense to pour money into a cafe with crazy updates. if the boat is right for you, do what it takes to put a smile on your face with the rig you are into. i do know i will be getting another boat within the next few yrs. either biggus t/g or something along those lines.lol....i really like the cafe racer and plan on never getting rid of it, so i will update till my heart is content. i plan on updating the birth, the dash, and would like to update the drives, some day. for now the trs will be fine and i had just found out they had been redone before i bought the boat, along with fresh power. so im happy, for now....hey biggus did my driver ever get there, where is my t/g? dave

The Konrad drive is a shorty lower (1.5")

I'll find out if their box will work.

Here's some pics
