I think I agree that it's hard to stop a color on the curve of a glassed rub railed boat.

With a lot of color on the top deck you will be waxing it all the time and it does get hot.Take it from someone that has been down that road,less color is better!!!

A boat looks bigger with less color.

99.9999999% of all performance boats are chevs. Wouldn't a few Viper engined or Ford powered boats add a nice mix?

PS My current Fords are 98% Factory issued parts, you know, like bow-tie stuff. The quality of the parts is phenomenal. well designed, Beefy (where indicated), well machined, and well performing. A Big Block Ford is just a big version of what the NASCAR boys run.

About the fords all I am thinking is resale you want to stay as appealable and servicable as possible. Then again if you are not worried about resale then what ever floats your boat!

I have an Excursion and I love Fords but for Marine engines to be practicale and servicable anywhere in the country Ford or the new V-10's on the water is not the way to go and will hurt you big on resale. Again it only applies if you care about those parameters

I think #2 when it's actually painted would look really sweet.

Of course you are absolutely correct about resale. I have developed a bad habit about not taking that into account. I think even the paint and red gel-coat bottom are going to to hurt resale. I think any non-merc power will not give the ROI that a stock engine will.
