Re: Cigarette 28SS and Towing

I'm going to do the route 66 trip again next summer in my '32 Ford. I'm going to take about a month and try to hit every part of old 66. Most of it is freeway now but there are still sections of the old road paralleling the freeway. I'll take a ton of photos and try to talk to as many old timers in the small towns as I can. There are many books about route 66 but most are filled with old photos and the history. This is cool but I'd like to write a book about the people along the way that were part of the old buildings and towns. I love talking to older folks about what it was really like growing up before they had electricity and cars and radios and all the stuff we take for granted.

My grandmother is 95 and stills lives in Vermont where she (and I) grew up. As a child, she lived on a dairy farm (most people in VT did back then) and they made and sold ice cream. They had an out house, no electricity or running water in the house. In the summer they would go into town (Weston, VT) for supplies. In the winter they wouldn't leave the farm because it was too hard to try to get the wagon over the trails in the snow. And kids in SoCal today think they have it rough!
