Re: Cigarette 28SS and Towing

Well, made the trip from Detroit to Austin with the new 28SS behind my 1998 C1500. The truck is no worse for the wear after 1200 plus miles and 24 hours. Travelled at 60-65 and got 9 to 10mpg.

The load distributing hitch worked great but I'm also glad that I had air bags over the leaf springs. 6 links on the spring bars and 60psi in the bags and the truck rode well.

Was also glad I put 3:73 gears in the truck before the trip. The 3:42's would have been a bit much and the truck is a whole lot more fun to drive around town (especially with the Whipple at full noise)!

Pics soon, I've been so dang busy the thing isn't even registered yet, still cleaning it up a bit after being stored in Michigan for the winter and towing it back to Texas.

What a cool old boat though...

Nope, looking for either an updated Bullet or Mistress with "larger than normal" power, something that will make theese old tanks see respectable numbers and staying remotely conservative on engine life
