To run your boat 70mph all day you would have to run it wide open all day. I don't think that is realistic. The cruise speed, where most people operate their boats, is the same as your boat, using 3800rpm as a benchmark. I have personally owned 5 Top Guns with 525's and TRS drives. two of them were carbon fiber. The difference in performance or ride of any of them was insignificant. I would say that the ride on the TRS boat with the center of gravity slightly further forward was better than a Bravo Top Gun with Mirage 3 blade propellers. When the Bravo One 4 blade props arrived on the scene that became no longer true. The Bravo drive package has less horsepower loss than the TRS package. This means a Bravo drive boat is faster with the same power. Not only will the Bravo drives take more power than the TRS, but after market parts are available to make it even stronger. I don't think the reason they are not building the new boats from carbon is because the light weight isn't needed. Wouldn't it be better if the same 500EFI T/S Top gun ran 90mph? All you have to do is make it lighter, compare the F-2 T/S Top Gun to a standard boat. Personally I always liked the graphics on your boat, one of the boats I owned had the exact same paint scheme and colors, but I prefer the graphics on the 94 Top Gun you are referring to. Graphics and guage colors are a mater of taste, everyone likes something different.
Is that you Pete.??????? I never knew you to return a phone call....let alone post on this website......things must be really slow.......

Pete, you never showed me the boat. I saw it at OSO Steves. I agree with some things you say about the bravo drives being lighter and making the boat go faster with the same HP etc. etc.

The one thing I strongly disagree is how you said that the ride is not different with the Carbon Fiber Top Gun. Our boat is very light and you can feel it. It rides with the nose up and it gets on top. I was out in Cash Bar's boat and the ride was totally different (he has a 96, Fiberglass, full cabin, Cheif 675.)

PS-G, I'm not going against the family...We still own a Cigarette! When you see a Cat at the dock, then you can say I'm going against the family!

Twinstepgun, you are right on the money with the speeds. LS. JR, You changed some of the content of your post while I was typing my reply (sorry, I use the hunt and peck method) so some of my reply does not correspond to your post.

Do you know the weight difference between the two? I have experienced the attitude you are talking about, but it was influenced more by propeller selection and rotation. If you run a Bravo drive straight bottom Top Gun with Bravo One 4 blade props, for example, it will feel much lighter and carry the nose better turning the props inboard (inboard creates less stern lift, more blades create stern lift). The same attitude I think you are describing. The boats come from the factory turning outward. If you are running 3 blade Mirage propellers you may experience this lighter bow feel, even turning outboard.

spitfire1, On the contrary, business is quite good. I am not sure who you are, but apparently I didn't return a call from you. I apologize. I'm working on that. I have installed a home office so when I get home from work, I can get back to work. I have also taken on another salesman to help with this. I spend 4-5000 minutes a month on my cell phone and use my office phone during the day. I have just finished retrieving 35 messages from my phone since this morning and have not left my desk or let my cell out of my hand (except to pee and retrieve my lunch from the fridge) since 9 AM. I'm not trying to make excuses, just explain myself. I am trying to be more active on this website as it brings a lot of business to me. When Steve took over this website about 3 years ago, he was working in my office. The site was run 5 feet from my desk in the beginning. Then he moved upstairs (redirected my air conditioning vent into his office) and was there until about this time last year. What I'm trying to say, no one has had as much opportunity to be involved and visible on this board as I have. I hate to be reckless with my time, but if you make one more comment, I may have to post a reply and crossover the 50th post milestone in my 3 1/2 year membership to OSO.

hey pete, dont know if you remember me, but a few yrs a go i was looking at a cafe racer with a teal stripe and blower motors. i was dealing with steve. i just put two and two together, from your last post. one of the motors had a ticking sound in them and it killed the deal for me. just wanted to say it was a pleasure to deal with you and steve. steve did what he could to make me happy, with all kinds of deals to get the motor rebuilt, but it was my first cig and did not want to take any chances with people and engine builders i did not know. now that i have been around for a while and see that you guys are as respected as i was told you are, i know now you guys would have done right by me no matter what the deal was i made with ya.
