Broker boat, dealer says the boat was only used in Dale Hollow and Lake Monroe. Anyone know anything about it? I may go look at it on saturday.

1991 Cafe carbon 70 boat.

I just spoke with the dealer and they are urging me to come look at it.

Re: anyone have any information on this cafe?

It was on boattaderonline for a couple of months. There was another thread in here a month or so ago asking about it. The broker had it listed w/another red and white (non CF) boat, both boats were still listed with "SOLD" on them a couple of weeks ago. Now they are no longer on boattraderonline. Maybe the deal fell through. I remember the ad though because it said, "This boat has won national races" or something to that effect. Nice looking boat though. A bit pricey as I recall and those motors pushed through bravos???

Re: anyone have any information on this cafe?

Wish i could find the thread. I have concerns about the motors and the bravos also. I also have concerns about it being a race boat. All the interior is new and it appears to be in great condition. i don't understand the race part though. He told me it has never left Lake Monroe or Dale Hollow. Not much national racing there..... 89k asking on new Myco trailer.
My though on the motors is to look for someone wanting to upgrade from a couple 500 efi and work a trade.

thisistank 09-22-2004 01:20 PM

Re: anyone have any information on this cafe?

The whole "Won national races" comment could just be the fact it's a Cigarette you know? The boat looked real clean too from the pics w/a sweet trailer. I'd say the price has a lot to do with the motors. 89k is a bit too much for a 91 Cafe IMHO. But the motors make the price worth it (assuming you have more $$$ to replace the broken drives! :D ). Next time you talk to them aske them about the race thing and why they listed the boat as sold on BTO. I assume the deal fell through though.

Also, according to Craig Barrie, the Carbon 70's just had visible carbon fiber in the engine compartment. Nothing else on the boat. They laid the Carbon fiber over the stringers in the bildge and advertised them as 70mph boats (though I guess they only did 68-69 w/the packages offered :D )

W/those 600HP in there that thing will do mid to upper 70's I would guess.

If you look elsewhere in this section, someone with 'fountain' something in their screen name stopped and looked at it and reported back on what he saw / found. Overall, not bad but its in need of stuff if I remember correctly.

edit: I think it was US1 FOUNTAIN that stopped and looked at it. He's in Layfayette, Indiana so he is close to it. Hope that helps

Awesome, exactly what I needed. I don't think I will spend the time for the two hour drive each way to look at it. My guess is they sold it, did a survey and the buyer backed out based on results. If the price were right I would consider it, but I don't think the price is right.

Thanks for the input guys. I think Lucky Strike is right, get a top gun and save a step... Wish you were closer and had a trailer :D

Why don`t you fly down to Ft. Lauderdale, have a look at the boat and take in some of the sights. I`m sure that Steve and Bobby would be glad to give you a demo ride to Shooters. :D
Then, you could return home and anxiously await the arrival of your new boat.

I have someone on the line for my Scarab, no money yet but lots of interest. If mine sells, I may do that, not sure though. I am hoping to find something a little closer. Also buying a 90k 1991 boat and then buying a trailer does not feel very good. Frankly it will be easier if mine does not sell. I am not unhappy with my boat at all, my wife likes the top guns and cafe cabins.... God love her.

tssteph,
As of last Monday 9/20, it is no longer on the dealers lot. Don't know why the dealer wants you to come and look at were it used to sit.

The dealer must have moved it, they called me last night to confirm me coming to look at it.

I think I want a gun anyway....

Bern it will be lose to what you got your for.... Have him email me or let me know and I will give a phone number. Mine was not bought until 2001 and it is a 1998, it is as clean as it can be. The Magig Brush graphics is awesome also. He probably will not see another one like it.

Dog, I am sure Russ would ride down.....
LS, not sure what I am going to do. Yours appears to be one of the cleanest older guns so far. I am waiting on some pics of a 91 gun in Maryland that appears to be a real clean boat with a new trailer.

Mine is a 98 Scarab 29, bought new in 2001. Magic Brush graphics, Eagle triple axles trailer with brakes on all three axles. Twin 350 mags, stainless marine headers, K&N filters, Bravo 1 drives, nose cones, drive showers, complete hydraulic steering from factory, 4 inch transom exhaust, Houston props (accelerator), gaffrig gauges with blue bezels (factory), gaffrig controls, trim in the steering wheel (factory), CD changer, XM radio, CD player, remote for changer/sterio at helm. Duel batteries with switches. All pop up cleats, cockpit cover, 280 K planes, mech trim indicators.

$58K

When I look at all this I wonder why I even think about selling.

Just to put all your minds at ease. This Cafe has a new owner as of today. Just happens to be my slip neighbor. :) Also an OSO member. Sure has been interesting hearing the dealer trying to still sell a boat they no longer had. I'm thinking I just might hitch a ride in it this weekend ;)
BTW, it is an upper 80's mph boat.

This must be dealer information. He told me 89 on the phone. He actually called me yesterday, I did not answer the phone and he did not leave a message. What was the final sale price? They were asking 89k.

tssteph 09-28-2004 04:11 PM

Re: anyone have any information on this cafe?

OK, I don't know what is going on. I just spoke with the dealer (he called me) and the boat is not sold and is still sitting on their lot. They had a deposit and the buyer backed out without ever looking at the boat. I also discussed all the issues raised in the old thread about condition, he assures me there must be a mix up with the information.

I am only repeating what the dealer told me.

US1 Fountain 09-28-2004 06:41 PM

Re: anyone have any information on this cafe?

BULLCHIT!

Tell ya what, call the dealer back and see if they can go out and email you a picture of it RIGHT now on their lot holding todays paper. This is really good!

As far as the condition, it is in exactly like I posted previously, please reread my posting on that. I did not say it was in rough shape or anything like that. Just that it needed attention to one of the transom assembles, one of the drives had been replaced (which the original owner also mentioned to my buddy), both had been repainted, and the strakes have been worked on. Interior was in great shape. I did not get to see in the motor compartment at that time, which I did mention. My friend felt it was the one for him, so he did in fact buy it and now owns it. Period.

tssteph
Don't get me wrong, I am not questioning you. I do believe that is exactly what they told you. But, they have not had this boat on their lot since last week.

That my friend, is what is going on.
