Looking for any ideas on what to do for my hatches, they are cracking and in my opinion way to heavy. I have to keep replacing my gas shocks that hold them open. All the help would be great guys!

I thought about it when I painted my boat last winter. I had one person tell me to have an aluminum frame fabricated and then inlay plexiglass into it. I'd like to have something translucent to get more light into the cabin, like those white hatches that formula uses.
Let me know how it turns out...

They are very heavy. The secret when I had mine was to change the hasp lock to something more stable so it didn't bounce. You may think they don't but they are very active when running and extremely hard on the shocks.

My 22lb ones just gave out after one year- I'm thinking of upgrading to 30lbs. (or so).

If I remember on the Cafe I had those hatches are pretty uniform in thickness... they do have the bend in them but there is an outfit locally that does all the plastics for Outerlimits (windscreens..) I bet they could duplicate the shape in plexiglass if they had a model to work off of.
THey will do the small windshield for my Tiger when I replace it, I will ask them then.
