Is that 10k lbs in a trailer?
One of few IOs I really like. Style, performance and just the right size.

I see you are on MI. I used to surf Patrick (AFB) first light and Picnic Tables.
I have not seen Nick's in person but it seems to be a twin of mine (592hp, 489 strokers). |

Yah, I've been to Tables for metal detecting a few times. Was pretty desolate last time out. Usually stick to Cape / North Cocoa Beach since it's 5 minutes from my front door!

Published weight is 7500-7900 for the boat. Probably right around 10K on trailer.
ALSO, the Silent Thunder platform has had the bottom drilled (6-4" holes) and gutted for (more) sound and (less) weight . https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...9ce742b17e.jpg |

redone Formula F-302
This was a pretty good old school ride, 1980 Formula F-302 that got a total rebuild in the early 90's
total deck off restoration ........ SammyJ https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...f99d00e586.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...82ab0dafdc.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...04a275c678.jpg |

Beautiful old classic. Jeep just used to move it around house and yard, maneuverable...., F-250 did the road tow, 9000lb too much for Jeep. Ironically, I wish i had kept this old dog, was a reliable 60MPH cruise in RI waters |

I understand that all too well... there is a picture in existence of me moving or attempting to move it with my John Deere 332 diesel garden tractor.
The things you do when no truck is available........ it didn't move far but I got the 2 feet I needed |
I figured as much but as someone who has towed w/junk before, I had to point it out 😂
When I had my first 24 sonic I lost a job and a wife within a month of each other, and you can imagine the crimp it put in my boating lifestyle! I bought a $500 full-size 1986 Chevy van off eBay. With that years gutless 305 V-8. Found a 300 horse, 350 jasper motor on craigslist for another 500 bucks. Headers and exhaust from Jeggs , a 3.73 posy from a junkyard, motor in and out through the drivers door which they told me would not work (😂). Probably not in a van you cared about. Got plates for it that said “Tow Pigg”! Only had problems pulling the boat out with it one time. Very steep, slippery ramp that was wet! Had people offering to help me tow it but I was having too much fun trying! Would lose traction as soon as the trailer wheels cleared the water. Looked over and noticed the opposite side of the ramp was dry. Took the boat off the trailer, moved it to that side, pulled the trailer out, backed down that side, loaded the boat and pulled it right out!

I towed a 39 Dodge panel truck home once with a Mid 80's little Toyota 2wd truck,,,,,,,, Talk about squatting, of course no brakes on the trailer:)
Hey it was the 80's!!!!! |

Spotted a 40' Magnum on a semitrailer headed southbound on I-95 through Melbourne FL a few days ago... No drives on it. Sorry, couldn't get a pic.

Congratulations to one special Cigarette 38. I saw your photos in the Cigarette owners' forum and it's so cool to see that the documentation from new has stayed with the boat. Do you know who originally bought the boat from Don Aronow? Several of the retired offshore racers brought with them their 'leisure' performance boats to Colorado or bought one once they got settled in. Most wanted change after having lived and worked in states like New York, New Jersey, and Florida. Bob 'Doc' Magoon was probably the one who set the trend and several followed. They couldn't let go of boating though, even though aviation was also a very popular activity among this great gathering of then-living legends.

Yes, when You have more history of the boat share it on the Cigarette Owners Forum thread You started. I wouldn't be surprised if You'll get feedback from fellows that have known this boat.

I wondered what front drive setup that was? Guess seawater pumps cam driven. Also hydraulic cylinders on transom, but I see no steering pumps?? Why the need for 2 tie bars also? |

Why the need for 2 tie bars also? The 2nd tiebar on the steering is likely (only guessing here) to keep the push/pull effect of the steering rams equal on each drive |

The boat will have an old school hydraulic pump in the helm... All manual input with no assist (obviously)... Think of early o/b skaters

Arena Craft... The first boat I drove
Actually Howard Arneson's first boat using the prototype Surface drive. I think this is the only photo of the boat. Powered with a Crusader Marine 350 Chevy.

I have never seen this type set up? I was told the engine stuff is jet boat type stuff? No belts anywhere, water pump off cam, alternator off crank. The steering I have no idea except I don’t like it lol. I am changing that this winter. Going to redo the transom, stringers and modernize the interior and stereo. I will leave the motor setup, it really works well and is something different!
So you'll have to add a hydraulic helm, lines to it, pump, and reservoir. The pump situation might get difficult if there isn't any access to get a belt to your steering pump with your existing front drive setup. Guess there isn't even a lower pulley? |

IMCO makes an electric power steering system that we use on outboards. Works great Give them a call they will set you up.

Prob 16-18'. Some sort of Chevy V8 and Jet drive. I have seen a bad pic of one that was in a Bond movie and trying to figure out which movie so I can some get paint ideas. Probably early 60s. and the name on it is JEW CANOE lol. Some say change it- I say Bad Luck. Any Bond fanatics that might know which one? Already watched Dr No and found out you can't even get old Bond movies free on steaming that I can find. Hmmmm |
