I've got a 1985 12 meter that my dad and I restored. Needed all new glass from transom to stringers throughout. One of those projects that once you start, hard to stop lol. Has fresh 700hp 540's with SSMIII

yep...just finished. Mine has the original upholstery style and Hatch and engine cover.
it's dark green. and Ford powered. Actually, we ran it some last year, but the starboard engine is out. out Again. hopefully 3rd time is the charm.

Your photoshop pic is of the Joe Janson/Ghost boat. Notice forehatch. And its blue I believe.

Yes! This is my 1978 24' dynamic marine. 1 of 2 that I can ever find that existed. The other 1 of 2 was located 2 miles away from my house. I'm in Erie Pennsylvania so maybe it was an east coast brand that never made it? Looks exactly like a P&D to me. My father did change the gauge locations and whatnot in the 90s when he had it but I do believe this is the same hull chassis as a cheetah

got a pic from lake of the ozarks of this one with #4 speed masters around 1995 I think ....
is this boat still in the Chicago area?

Kamma 11-30-2020 12:09 PM

Yes, first year it was raced it had big blocks and #4s on it, Jim sold it to Joey turek at the end of 95’, he put the small blocks and bravo / imco in it
the boat resides in Michigan now but I have it in Florida currently, just had the motors out and Dyno tuned at Express Engines in DeLand Florida, they rock!, planning on running it a bit down here then back to Michigan, hope to run Boyne thunder next summer.

A friend of mine had a long portifino back in college, it was an amazing party boat and was always super comfy. Too bad it wasn't really his, so we didn't get to use it as much as we wanted ; P

You`re the first person that actually knew the boat !! Sweet !:D
I don`t know any of the history just knew it came from out your way

Rookie 12-06-2020 02:52 PM

When I met you in GH years ago and if you would have told me that boat was Smokin' I probably would have had a heart attack.
Todd owned it probably 1999-2005ish. It had 540's and TRS's. Would run mid/high 70's and break a drive every couple of trips out. It was always driven hard! That was the first boat I had ever been on in true 4'-6' waves and I couldn't believe how it ran. I believe it went towards Chicago/Milwaukee area. The 540's were pulled and and sold to a guy with a beautiful red gelcoat 9 meter Fountain. He brought the engines back to Jim I believe to get rebuilt. I remember one day I was putting hydraulic steering on my Panther and the guy was putting amps in the Fountain. I looked down the side of the hull and there were 8 2" drywall screw out the side of the hull. I just shook my head. Smokin' was brought to a couple of the races in GH, St Clair and Ohio for pleasure boating. I'll try to get my old computer fired up and see if I can pull some old pics of Smokin' off of it.
Here is a pic along side my Panther when I was redoing the upholstery. Probably 2002

Ok I gotta ask what year is that boat? It looks pretty new to me. If its a 99 then you've obviously given that boat lots of love.

It is older than that. They stopped making the flat deck in 1987. I think that is the baddest 38’ on this site.

My boat is an 1986.
Kvoghts brother bought it and they did most of the refit.
I`ve changed pretty much everything besides the paint since then.
