That's very interesting, thanks for that. The Mel Riggs connection could be why its painted as Aeromarine colours???

Regarding the Crower injection units, I think you are right. I think Mr.K used Lucas pumps and Crower injection manifolds. I'm not 100% sure but I think Kinsler bought all of the Crower equipment and stock when the company closed, so Kinsler came after Crower.

Interesting that KAM 1 was the first boat with injection. As per the photo I posted earlier in the thread, the boat must have started off with naturally aspirated motors and then switched when the injection units came out. It would be great to get Richi Powers into this thread.........anyone know how to get hold of him to ask?

It sounds like you used to race back in the day. What boats did you have?

OK I made it back......BUT I have returned with injuries...........

My ribs are killing me and my ears have a ringing in them that prevents me from hearing whispers.......

REASON..........I laughed so hard I thought my ribs would break through my sides. My ears, simply because I couldn't get enough of those old 7 litre hydros running around making that sweet music that was the song of my youth. OFF was a great time, already making plans for next year.

There was a documentary film maker there and he tried really hard to get us to sit at a table and quietly tell him stories. So picture this.....Sitting to my left is Johnny Bakos, on my right is Odell Lewis, next to him is Sammy James and next to him is Bob Idoni. Standing behind me is Steve Sirois and Bill Seebold with Jackie Wilson back there somewhere. Rich Luhrs is getting his Switzer wing ready to run and Brownie is nowhere to be seen after Friday night.

Stan Pike (Inferno) came over to me and asked if I remembered him. I didn't. When he told me who he was, I said I was really surprised he knew who I was.... because when ever we raced back in the old production class races, the only thing he ever saw of me was my back. So he started busting me back, just like the past 25 years never happened and we were right back at a driver's meeting somewhere.

Sounds pretty amazing Charlie. Us Brits have just started to tune into this thing. My Dad makes an annual pilgrimage to Sarasota this time of year and heard about OFF when he was at Key West last week. We just might have to come and check this thing out next year.

I'll try again...short version

Filmaker looks at me and says do you have any stories our viewers would like?

Sure I said, do you know Sammy was a plastic surgeon?

No, he says tell me all about it.

I look over at Sammy and he is smirking and say....is this about Vince?

Yes, it is I said. The people should know how you treated that man.

I look at the camera and start.....When ever we raced Sammy and Vince in his 38 foot Bertram, Sammy would always finish the race with a different guy...or so we thought.

So Sammy picks up the story here. Vince told him that he could take anything the ocean could dish out and for Sammy not to hold back if it got rough. So he took him at his word and during one race Vince took a re-entry wrong and smashed his chin into the steering wheel. There was blood shooting all over the place and we stopped. It was the first time ever I looked directly into a man's throat. Vince's chin split so a flap of skin was hangnig under his helmet strap and you could look right in and see the whole throat.

I took out one of the disposable diapers I always carried with me...(Yup, folks I ain't making this up) and lifted his skin up and shoved the diaper under his chin and between his helmet strap. I tightened the strap and Vince looked over at me and said....Are we going in now Sam? I said...Vince... the fastest way in is to finish the race. Before he could answer, I hit the throttles and off we go....

When we got back to the dock, Vince's wife started screaming at me and was really upset because she saw all the blood all over the boat. I told her she better take Vince right to the hospital.

29 stitches and Vince was as good as new.

Everyone missed you and we all told lies about how we beat you back in the days. I had missed for a few years, but won't miss again. It is really good to laugh that hard at our ages.
