I just got off the phone with the people at Amelia Island and the showing of the offshore race boats has been postponed until next year.

Since the Concours is shown on the actual golf course at Amelia Island, there was much concern that the weight of the boats would be too much for the delicate nature of the turf.

Another area was proposed that would be closer to the road and less wear on the turf, but it had already been assigned to a major corporation and they had made site specific signage and booths to go along with their display.

So rather than have the boats displayed in some backwater area, it was mutually decided that we would postpone the display of offshore boats until next year.

This would give both sides plenty of time to agree on a premier location. The boat owners now, would have more time to restore their boats and have them ready to go.

This is a big event, one that has never been opened to these historic boats before, we don't want to do it wrong the first time...we may not get another shot.
