Anyone who has raced offshore in the last 12 + years may recognize the name of Bob Owen as a race boat inspector in all the racing associations [APBA OSO OPA]. Before Bob wore that hat he & his family raced offshore in the early 70's. Here are a few pic's from my box of stuff of there Sundance race team a 19' Donzi St tropez.. Back in the day you could race this size Donzi, Monza & even a Sea Ray type of boat in a 60 to 80 mile offshore race, just hope your boat & body could hold up to the abuse.:eek::eek:

Back from the Florida reality trip, had a great time talking to some offshore greats like Bob Sheer, Sonny Miller, Cadillac Mcdaniels, John Henry Falk, Katrin & Harold from Magnum & Jack Stuteville. Bob Sheer let us take his colection of pic's from back in the day. We will be scanning them & posting some here on OSO. Here is one of Bob's cool pic's of his Little Rebel Magnum .

I Have been on that boat (Little Rebel) with Bob Sheer....He brought it down to the Keys one weekend to hang out with Brownie, David Gilmore and others. I think Brownie was still at Magnum then. I was just a little kid, maybe 10ish. But I remember Bob Sheer and his sandy blond hair (lookin like a porn star :) )

I remember seeing "Lil Rebel" in Lake George a week after the Benihanna and it had Plexiglass engine covers. As a kid, I thought this was so kool to see the engines! Does anyone have pics of the after-market engine hatches?

Did Jack have a Cowboy Hat on??? I remember working at Cougar on his Aluminum 38' (The Collection) and he always had his hat :) Oh, and his Hot Blond wife :)
|
Didn't see a pic with the cowboy hat but the one with Preston Henn flipping somebody off was pretty funny.

I would like to get some old vintage style t-shirts, maybe from an old race. Anyone know where to get these?
|
My father did throttle the CUV "Bandit", said he loved that boat, it really wanted to teach him a lesson he said. Super fast! I believe the next race it did end up killing someone?

I found a picture of one of my grandfathers boat, the date on the back looks like it could be 1976. He used to race in South Florida. If anyone has other pictures or info, I would love to hear about/see it :)
