You are probably spot on there. I Rode in the Panama Hawk boat one time, I was stored and being maintained by Ron Dollar and the owners where coming to test it, to get him out of a pinch I went and helped him complete his work. after the owners went for a ride they where mad because 7XChamp Had the Boat over 90mph and now it only went mid 80's. I guess Richie got the the good motors from Hawk

Dry Martini, now owned by Mike Bontoft, was just shipped to England to compete in the 50th anniversary Cowes Torquay Cowes race. The boat was completely rebuilt this winter with new bulkheads, new fuel tanks, rebuilt engines, steering, and outdrives.

By the way, the boat is serial #3.

All the tanks had leaks and water got through the fiberglass into the wood. Racing debonded the deck and the bulkheads in places. The old style steering was light duty by modern standards, and newer outdrives have a longer life. The larger bullets knocked a few mph off the top speed, though. The engines were low time, but on inspection had several problems. The plan was to use the Kiekhaefer gear accessory drives, but there wasn't enough time. Three or more hours running in the English channel takes a very well prepared boat.

Sorry to jump in so late and ask stupid questions but if I understand what you are saying, the '76 American Eagle is now call Panama Hawk and is owned by R.Barcenas, who stores it in Panama. Is this correct?

There should be some pictures somewhere of that 35' as it is today.
