About the Apache cat in the accident I think was the wodden one red and white that you think became the Ragazzi's Fresh & Clean-Loro Piana. Not the white one that I think was, like the Wildcat and the Canada Home-Samsonite, built in fiberglass.
Black Tornado,
Seems from info from this thread it must of been the first boat #96 Team Apache, I remember seeing it fly away from a great distance in Sodus Pt. 1986. Consequently the race was black flagged. It was only moments after the start in reported 10 foot seas.

MOBILEMERCMAN,do you remember how many damages had the Apache/Maelstrom? pics?

I did not see it up close. I do have a snap shot of the #96 Team Apache in Miami Oct.'86 It has a different paint scheme then the photo you displayed in post #31. It does appear to be the same boat.

Very interesting pics,MOBILEMERCMAN!
The first two are the Apache/Maelstrom 41' in the same paint scheme of that in the first pic in my post #31 before the accident.
The third pic it's the tin Cougar 35' that Sal Magluta lent to Kramer to be able to win the title APBA that year.
