Hey that sounds great. I got my mag from lake st clair (Jefferson Beach Marina) but ran it back to lake huron the next day as i did not have a trailer,
So i really dont know the area and the hang outs, but we are planing to be down there alot this summer.

It would be nace to hook up with you and others and lean the hot spots. we dont mind running the boat down the river for the day or we can grab a slip for a few days. we also talk about mabey leaveig the boat in Jefferson Marina for a month and just driveing home after the weekends

Would love to see all you Mag owners boats

Well how about GROUND ZERO,, Home of many of the old school Magnums, Mirage, Pantera's, Emerald City Harbor and Jacks. From there to the bay or just stay and greet and meet everyone. I can talk to the Mathis's the owners of Emerald city and Magnum racers , and see what can be done. Many of the past Magnum racer's are still in the area and it could be a great reunion.

The more boats the better, but i think anyone that loves magnum weather they have one now, or had one in the past or just peaple who love to see old shcool boats should come,

I really think there should be some kind of run with all the boats that come. as all of us runing together would be cool and make some great pic's

Let me know what i can do, ill be down in harrison twp in the next few weekends looking at boats.

Just my too cents.. Len

Butch YES !!!! Any of the old school guy's. Emerald City in the past was the dealer for Magnum, Mirage, Pantera, Cobra, Eagel and more. Jack and Kevin Mathis are in Florida till next week but I think they would go for it, and when it's good time to do it. Last year we had a reunion of any of the past Lake St Clair racer's and crews at the Beach Grill [the old Brownies] and it was GREAT. I hope we can come up with a date that will work for everyone !!!!! Mark

justbassing 03-23-2008 02:09 PM

Len

RICHARD A DROZE SR. 03-23-2008 05:15 PM

voodoo

yea, it still has the Tyler Crocket /Chuck Noonan engines I went through them again 2years ago too fix a valve train problem that I had with both engines an change the geometry just a bit. I broke both trans , at different times ,made those bullet proof. Redone all the rigging, now I dont mind taking her anywhere as long as I don't stray too far from a marina that has good fuel.

Dan is a friend from the Monroe boat club who also had the Bonanza, Chartreuse Magnum. It later was the silver Mag that sold last spring. Dan said your Magnum was a rocket, and it did scare him.

THANKS..It will see upper 90's with more throttle left..but it starts chine walking too bad to stay in it. I have a couple of things I am trying this year to see if it will be more stable at high speeds.

nocigarette 03-25-2008 04:29 AM

most of the stuff i know about a magnum bottom is that if you extend the lower strakes all the way to the back of the boat it will stop any kind of chine walk.....The grumpy old men boat was done this way for the same reason......Give mew a call if i can help in any way.......734 231 5070 mike

Richard, I used too own your boat before the other guy on this thread, Which is my buddy Ron. Your boat is the oringinal Magnum Starfire brochure boat from 1981.
That boat was leased from Magnum to the DEA as a drug inforcment boat for one year, Then sold to a man named Phil Mebus in detroit and kept at gregory's habor and then it sat a millers marina in the water till I bought it in 1988. It was oringinaly red, white and blue striped and had STARFIRE down the sides. I have seen you trailering it past my shop at north river and I-94 a few times last summer , That boat was always my favorite and one of the best boats I ever owned.
When your in the area please stop by and say hi ! Ron is the one that painted white that boat had a siren right one the tip of the bow you can probably see the inside were it was patched at one time from where it was mounted. Have you notice that the hull is glassed around the intire parameter of the outside ? I got tired of blowing the rubrails of the thing in Lake Huron when the boat flexed. God I love that boat!!
It was balenced just right with the triple tanks , It flew great!
I have two Magnum projects going on in my shop right now that we are restoring and building. Stop by.

That was a big mastake buying that executioner.

justbassing 03-25-2008 04:50 PM

The motors you have now are not what ron had. There were blowers and intercoolers with twin carbs each in when he sold it.
