Best Old School Cat Photo ?

So we have seen the best old school photo was "The Cigarette" which was a beautiful mono, but what is the best cat photo ever.

Please post your suggestions any make any length just needs to look fab and fast.

But surely not the fayva crash.

fastdonzi 06-06-2009 03:04 PM

Angelo Meli, who worked for Fayva Had stills of all 15 miles that Boat ran before it crashed, the crash wasn't even close to the best shot. He had the Negatives at a photo company having Large photos made of the Perfect pics. Sombody who didn't like Angelo noticed them at the Photo shop and Picked them up for him and they where never to be seen again. I saw all the photos before he took them in to have the larger ones made and some where perfect where you could see every slice the blade tips where making in the water. I would have got a copy if the didn't get stolen...

fayva

Fast Donzi,

Thats a real shame to hear I bet they were great photos, what a huge loss.

about 6 months after the accident I got a copy of the video of the whole race that Fayva crashed at.

Great video but I have not watched it for years from memory I think Wolverine won the race.

Have you got any other great cat stills to show.

E Colby 06-10-2009 11:39 AM

The Fayva pics were probably very cool, but one of the most memorable cat photos in my mind was the Skater 32, Agitator, standing almost straight up. Might have been a Freeze Frame pic, but I'm not sure.

Let's get the pictures rolling in!

That Kaiser boat was just awesome. No safety pods, but sums up for me what old school cats were all about - out and out speed machines.

The picture of Panosonic all stood up for sure

It's hard to beat this one of Express in New York before she became Panosonic.

That was the first boat that came to my mind when I read the topic of this thread. Its the first cat that I really remember from when I was a kid. I just saw that boat last week parked outside.

Best Old School Cat Photo

Well done little nige yet again you come up with the goods.
Personal favourite of mine is the Satisfaction photo as this boat is one my favourites.

I was on a spectator boat when this Cougar 38 won the Cowes Torquay as Yellowdrama III with Ken Cassir (owner) and James Beard (throttles and designer) on board it was agreat day to see an English cat win this event. Surely this must have been the first major class 1 offshore event that a cat won.

From memory the Yellowdrama III cat had been fitted with the ex Carlo Bonomi Martini spare engines as Ken Cassir had bought the Martini boat with all the spares the previous year, he then run it as Yellowdram II.

This wood Cougar 38 has been run under many names including Yellowdrama III, Limit Up, Satisfaction and probably most famously as Benihana.

Does any one know what happened to the boat in the end as it surely is one of the most prolific Cougar cats of all time.

This boat has to be the beginning of the change in class 1 internationally from monos to cats as both US champs Betty Cook and Joel Halpern bought wooden Cougar cats after this.

Any pics of Mad Mac, the 30' Image Cat out of Freeport, Long Island, with the five Merc outboards hanging on the transom? Owned by Jimmy MacIntyre's father and raced in the late 80's into the early 90's?

jcsuk 06-27-2009 05:34 PM

Miss Guernsey........what is it and whose is it. Was the 001 number Robert Cook's number on Aquaglide.

It was mostly designed by John Conner and built at formula. wasn't as fast as the wood cougars so it couldnt compete. I believe they only made the one. if they could have found speed they would have built more, but that didn't happen.

Here are some Jaguars from their winning days. The Gifford boat with the Gentry yacht in the background.
The brown boat on the trailer is the "original" wood Jaguar.

I vaguely remember it, enough to not remember if it was old school or new school. I think the boat was all white with FOUNTAIN in large red letters on the side.

Without a doubt, "Jesse James" gets my vote for the most impressive "wood" catamaran ever built. Hell, it probably gets my vote for most impressive catamaran, period. TWhat that boat was capable of more than TWENTY years ago is truly astonishing.

littlenige 08-14-2009 09:00 AM

I never saw Jesse James in the flesh, but it sure looked like the most beautiful cat ever built - with or without the canopies.
