Redone 30' Midnight express
I just drove down to Miami last week and picked up a south florida special, a beautiful 30' midnight express open center console with twin 250 efi Merc's. Seems from the little that I could fine here these are good boats (other than there dirty 80's history) and was also wondering what is the weight of the hull? Also what problems are they known for having due to there older age? Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Byng Goode the old midnight owner now owns marine machine in opa locka fla . They were heavy tanks they also made a 32 and 37 both sport and open and a rare catamaran racer. Also check stringers and fuel tanks and lower transom, they usually took a beating for some odd reson you barely would see them in daylight hours I guess the owners enjoyed "night fishing"congrats on your purchase now prepare to be boarded!

I have been studying the boat inside and out. It's surprisingly in good condition, very little if any stringer rot. Some odd de-lamination issue from 2 copper strips that run along the middle of the hull floor between the stringers. It's not a very heavy boat like most think it is, my ford work van pulled it 700 miles with no problem, I'm guessing the hull is 5500 pounds, the engines another 1000, triple axle trailer ??? and it only measures 28feet 6inches also so not a true 30'. It's a winner for a go-fast fishing hull though.
