I seem to get a lot of comments on the hull of my 1969 19' Monza from people that seem to know a fair amount about older go--fast boats. The most frequent I hear is "that hull is way ahead of it's time". Anyone know why that is? Are there be other hulls similar and if so which? The Monza is often referenced with Donzi, is there any other reason besides general shape & purpose? Lastly, any idea where I can find the hull id?

I have a 1969' 19' , now in N. Palm Beach. The boat originally had a curved glass windshield that unfortunately got broken & discarded. Anyone have any pictures of one with a windshield ?

Yes, originally had a tempered glass curved windshield. The port/ starboard nav lights were mounted inside of the windshield & the removable white LLC around light was mounted on the center support for the windshield

Wow Y, I had to go back deep into my archives on Monza’s to find these. I have many Monza’s on file but yet there is only one that has the windshield you speak of. My old 1970 Monza had the windshield that 98% of them have/had (if they had one at all).

Ahead of its time? Hmmm.. The strake design at the bow, and the wide flare of the front deck over the hull is not really ahead of its time, but the straight v bottom transom with a pad was. I don't know of another deep vee in that era that had a pad? The Donzi's still had a rounded keel at the transom that was a old v-drive design, and not and even meant for an outdrive - but they never changed it, and even the cig 20' of the 70's and 80's used the same old design. Seemed like all jet boats used that rounded keel thru the 70's as well. There wasn't another padded deep V-bottom that I know of until the '76 24x7 Excalibur. The Monza's length to width ratio was short and fat for a performance rough water vee bottom, but not sure how many knew that yet in '69. Most people liked the stability of a wider boat anyway. The Monza was closer to the dimensions of the Donzi Minx I always thought, and the cockpit/bilge liner was a nice touch��

You think that's something you should see my SuperNova. 19 feet long and 8 foot at the transom. Basically a shortened version of the 24.

Not sure about the composite dp prop sets but volvo didnt approve of aluminum b series behind big power- high speed boats in the past . The last pat moore built extreme 22 boat i was involved with ran f8 props (those do have to be timed ) through a 1.95 to 1 drive , took about 480 hp or so , mid 70s 5500 rpm range . Light lay up.boat . Would just about launch anything not bolted down right out of the boat punching it from 20mph and up. Very tough drive .
