I've been there today, later than originally planned.
But I asked at this hotel, which is where the OP pic was taken. They confirmed that they're the current owners of the hull we're talking about.
Unfortunately, the guy who got it from Abbate was not in at that moment, but they gave me his name and phone number.

My impression is that the hull could be bought for peanuts.

I also go to Milan frequently and will definantely make a trip out there next time. Not to put in an offer or do anything to jack the price up, just to look at it. If anyone has a request, just give me a PM. I would love to see this hull back in Fla..

Going to Milan tomorrow, batteries charged on the camera already....

Just realized it is 1:30 away from where I am going. Hope I get the opportunity but chances are slim...

WTF, got stuck here for an ekstra day due to the volcano and absolutely everything is closed including car rentals just because it is Sunday.... GRRRRR....
