Okay, I have the cooling system worked out. I found a 1 1/4" hose at a hydraulic hose place. Also using a plastic barbed elbow, with clamps, but the issue is the hose that goes from the PS cooler to the thermostat housing is hitting the alternator. I'll have to make a spacer or something.
Here's another big snag: I ordered new fuel fills. They're gorgeous, and the right hose size. However, the DIAMETER is smaller than the old ones, and the three mounting holes do not line up. Does anybody have a source for fuel fills that shows the circumference or measurements of the mounting holes??? Darrell. |
Does anybody have an engine alignment tool I could borrow? I need one desperately.

Hey guys. Long hiatus due to winter, and the boat will DEFINITELY be done this summer. Last summer I was working outside and limited to sunlight, and weather (it rained a lot here in wisco), but THIS year, I have a garage. A HUGE, beautiful, well-lit mancave of a place. Anyway, got the sleek in it, and took a few photos with the stellings headers bolted up just to check fitment. The scoop is just sitting on the engine, so it'll be a good 4" higher when installed.

Sweet thread man, good luck finishing!

Updates, no pics though:
Got the engine aligned, I think. I will try again tonight to fine tune it, the problem is the alignment tool I have catches on the inner lip of the gimbal mount, so I can only get it into the engine about 3/4". :\ The upside is that I have the bellows done! I NEVER WANT TO DO THAT AGAIN AND MERCURY ENGINEERS SHOULD BE PUT INTO CONCENTRATION CAMPS FOR THEIR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY. What a stupid, stupid, stupid design. |

Something is missing.... but oh hai nice bellows you have there. Was going to sand and paint the gimbal but I want the boat in the water asap so I'm done caring about cosmetics. I can always clean things up next winter. :) |

Tada! First time installing one, read the manual and everything went smoothly. The whole sterndrive went in very nicely, except for the last 1/2". Used a piece of wood and a hammer and thwacked it lightly and it slid right in. :) |
