Love the fatlace sticker hahahahaha. Congrats on winning best fiberglass boat! Honestly this thread has me looking at tunnel hulls and stuff like your sleek as a fun boat. Anyhow...

An SS is pricey but is basically the only way to get a shorty on your alpha drive. You can pick one up for 1k-1500 if you search. In fact a couple guys on here have them. Combine it with the right prop and you should be deep into the 60's. I bet with some serious motor tuning and maybe a little head work+ an SS drive; you'll tip the 70 mark. Going to be hard to take on that Hyrdostream though. Them things haul a$$

Come to think of it... A blower + SS will put you in the 80+ range

Congratulations from a fellow 2012 ACBS winner. Looks awesome!
We'll get these wood boat folks over to the fiberglass camp with boats like that.

Haha. Yeah, good times. The wood stuff can be great looking but it's well out of my price range. I did get a LOT of attention though, and everyone was very friendly/welcoming. Rad!

Yeah, I'm not sure where to even start looking for an SS lower unit.

You have to buy the complete drive. The upper unit on a alpha ss is shorter not the bottom. You can actually use a stock lower and a ss top. JOHN SR

I want to say Biggus has or had a complete Alpha SS for sale. Could be thinking of someone else, though.

Great boat , have restored a few of those as well as the taylor lp .with those headers you can now move towards a merc 377 black scorpion style grind, or recreate that motor ,get a banderlog or poppet valve control for exhaust water.baffle inserts with stainless and cf packing or atv silencer packing .install the proper drains. It will sound and run like pure majic. Run a flat anode and prop for 5800 rpm and you should see high 60s maybe 70.

With your helper in bikini this post could of been about restoring a dented trash can lid and i would of been following it lol .with the rams off drop the drive free fall style from a inch or 2 make sure your transom top cap repair doesnt flex. That area put alot of those hulls out to pasture
