Thank you for the kind words, Robert. Maybe we were a different generation. We raced to race. When I started in 1972, we were still testing to see if fiberglass and drives and engines would take the punishment and STILL finish.
I ran hard because I was to stupid to slow down, and I didn't like to be second to anyone. David Gilmore, Sal Maglutta and I were best of friends on the hard, but once on the water, look out. You push until someone broke, if they were alright, you kept going. If people want to run up and down the beach and call it ocean racing, that's fine. I personally liked to run in the open, no GPS, no cellphone just a compass and chart and whatever mother-nature could throw at you. Blown-out knees, broken teeth and ankles, sunk boats, but God it was fun. Sorry for the rant.

"Euromarine Special" P-16 was my 1986 Chris-Cat, and was actually a converted pleasure boat! We probably ran about 30 races or so with her from 1988 until 1994 when we retired her. I LOVED that boat!!! She was a beast in rough water, and always very forgiving. She ran high 90's when we first rigged her with 2.4's, and ran in the 102/103 range when we upgraded to 2.5's. Couldn't quite hang with the 32' Skaters when it was flat, but they couldn't hang with us when it got rough. Had to retire her when the Pro-Stock field started to feature 35' canopied Motions and 36' canopied Skaters! It would have been just a matter of time until we gort really hurt trying to run with those boats in an open-cockpit 30 footer.
Man I miss that boat. Last I heard it was on Long Island as a pleasure boat. The new owner reached out to me via e-mail one day for some further info on her, and I lost his e-mail address.

If the angle of your picture is correct, it looks like your out boards are rigged way to low!
You might be better off starting your own thread on Rigging a Cat and get your (X) dimension
closer to correct.
Anyways if your looking for speed they appear way to low.
