Btw nice build I appreciate the work I redid my current boat. It's just an 89 sea ray cuddy but I got it as a teen and when the floor went soft I could let her go out like that so I tore it apart. Got ride of a lot of wood and replace with balsa skinned plastic honey comb board and glassed in. Did all PVC board inside and re vinyled it sturdy and less chance for rot.

I've seen that advertised...

Twins. I'm local and looking at an 1980 sonic CC with bracket no motors anything I should particularly check extensively. I noticed cracking in the first strake from the keel on both sides? Any thoughts. Other than that boat seems solid. Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks

only 24' Sonic CC I've seen.
On the cracking, that is a weak area on those boats. Due to the liner design there is not much support in that area.
If you pull the rear floor panel I think you can get to it for reinforcement though.

Thanks, I'm looking at it again tonight with a fine comb. Figured that was the case with the cracks, I looked down the hull through the inspection holes and no much for support between the stringers and the sides of the boat

Finally more headway. Boat is back from interior shop (can't find my damn camera!), I built my 3rd attempt at an unobtainium L.H. Lightning gear case and screwed my motors back on.
Put about 20 mls on it yesterday and the damn thing ran perfect! Even idled around the ramp. Neither motor died from the time I started them till being back on the trailer!!
Time to play the lottery ;)
Pulled the drain plug in the LH unit after home and zero metal :)
Going to play w/it local Saturday if schedule permits.
Also tried and was able to get it into our shallow canal/harbor at the end of our street. Fantasy has been from day #1 to have it tied up, loaded and waiting for Mama to get home from work Friday. Walk down the street and disappear for the weekend.
After nearly 3 yrs of work and every spare dime (many that weren't spare) we are close baby!

Congrats brah! Keep at it and you'll get that dream. Something about dreams coming true when it involves a boat is soooo much sweeter

Thanks!

A bunch of set up work still to be done. Plus both motors have ignitions on them that came out of my scraps box's.
Replacing both of them as I get the Benjamins.

Also, I noticed when running Bravo 1 wheels the thing was a pig coming on plane. I actually sold a set of 26's to go down to 24's because of this. Bolted on the 24's expecting a drag boat and could tell very little if any difference. Then I caught that they had no exhaust reliefs.
Poked them in these wheels and now I have my drag boat
But....., I also have more compression, better heads, reeds and porting. I haven't done any WFO runs yet w/these motors and really didn't w/the stock 250's either. By the time I got everything working right those motors were sold.
Best this boat has seen is 70 w/those motors but w/horrendous set up. I don't think the Bravo's have enough rake to carry ehe bow on this boat and it trys to hop w/o some down tab. I ran the Rakers on our last Keys trip and it was the best the boat handled but only got 67 or 8 then but also had a full weekend/camp load of crap on the boats and had dropped the motors 2" to combat the hopping.
I've been though enough on this project that I am focusing on my goal which is a bullet proof boat that will take us to the Bahama's and back and still be fun to play with.
The port motor that I put the p.pack on is still not right yet either. Runs awesome up to mid 5K range and then if I nail the sticks it instantly drops R's.
Won't really know a lot of the answers until both motors have new ignitions

It's funny how you can put all the carb/cam/head/piston/etc work into a motor you want, and it can all come down to a stupid ignition box/coil/pack whatever. Remind me what motors are on there now? Ported and worked older 'rudes right? RPM drops offs always suck to chase. But you've gotten everything else with this girl, I imagine you'll get this handled quick as well!

Oh and no exhaust reliefs will definitely slow a boat down haha:angry-smiley-038:
