Good to hear! And that's a sweet starter boat. Should give you low to mid 50's, sound sweet, and run that SEI drive into the ground! The warranty like the guys are saying is pretty good! She should fly well enough for some good air time too

I started off with a '86 22' Avanti myself back in the early 1990's. It's really a very capable little boat for its size. I should have left it stock. I ended up with a supercharged 355 in it, k-planes and re rigged the whole boat (the stock rigging was pretty bad). When all was said and done it had roughly 420 hp and ran 66 mph on fumes in cool air. The stringer problem at the fuel tank bulkhead that was mentioned earlier got me when all the tabbing let go after a rather spirited run. I ripped out the bulkhead and replaced the whole structure. The bottom was definitely wavy, and you can imagine how long the alpha lasted, but if you leave it stock.....it's a great starter boat! Enjoy it!

i live near the place they were built. there are a lot of them on the delaware river near philly. biggest problems i hear about are broken motors. and you can't blame the hull for that...or can you?

If you're asking the guy who built the motor - it's definitely the hulls fault!

You know....with that little hull, that's true! It reminds me of a guy I knew 20 years ago with a 26' Corsa that blew up his Blown BBC's monthly. He said the boat got out of line so rarely (it ran 85 at the time), that he never felt compelled to pull off the power. Any mild small block or even mild big block in calm waters in a 22 Avanti would present a similar issue. The Avanti's no 26 Corsa, but without wild power, it's rock solid in fairly calm waters.
