Its not just the glasswork for the drives but you also need to move the engines forward to accomodate for the transmissions which you need with the trs. Its a pretty big job and that can affect the handling of the boat!

no, he is talking about replacing missing TRS's in the Scarab and putting in his 350's. the glasswork was if he converted to Bravos. which IS a lot of glasswork. now, DHK. which boat is worth more, the Cobalt or the Scarab? value as-is and value finished? the Cobalt is a live, mostly together boat? if you can get anywhere near 10k for it as-is, it wouldn't make sense to strip the power and trade it for a 1k to 3k Scarab hull. on the other hand, what drives are in the Cobalt? is the deal off table if you keep gimbals and drives too? i am not saying don't do it. i am saying all the things you need to consider before you do. what does the spousal unit think? i would much rather hear mine complaining cuz i am driving the boat too fast than hear her complaining cuz i traded it for a dead one.

WoW! I thought the Rubics Cube was hard to figure out! Any way I rebuilt two 30 Scarabs in my life and miss them both. They both had BBC/TRS and ran good but I think that Bravos would be perfect in a older 30. I would go Scarab..........

there aren't many Cobalts with twins from the pre-Alpha era. 23 or 30 foot? if the guy who has the TRS's from the Scarab is reselling them, you can probably do better than the 3k he wants. does your budget include buying Bravos now? because Bravo, Alpha, pre-Alpha and just about everything that goes into a boat to make the prop spin from 87 on fits the same MERCRUISER keyhole that came from the pre-Alpha. so you can redo the transom and put the pre gimballs in with your 350's. find a couple of craigslist Alpha lower halves (pre-alphas have weak vertical driveshafts. you can snap them with a small block by pushing on the throttle.) and change over to Bravos when the right deal comes along. in a way it will be easier than reinstalling the TRS stuff, because by the time one guy strips it out, and sells it to somebody else and it gets moved around a couple of times, there will be stuff missing. stuff that is coming up on the 20 year anniversary of it's extinct date. so it isn't easy to find.
