NICE!!

Take a pic or 2 from the inside so I can get a reference to the steering.

What tips are those?

Jason I took a D/A sander with 80 grit to the teak to clean off all the mold that was on it from sitting under a bunch of trees. You may not have to do that step, but you will need to sand it to let the new oil absorb into the wood. After that I gradually went to a finer grits up to 1200 to get the really smooth finish back. Be sure to wash it down after each sanding. If I were to strip it down again I would start applying teak oil after the 80 grit step, while the woods pores are still open. I waited to the end and have used almost a gallon of teak oil on it. I was amazed at how quickly the teak absorbed the oil. Oil it then let it dry to see where it needs more oil, then oil again. I'll post a couple of pics when it's done and ready to re-install. I'm going to leave it off until my new motor is in.

Gator...what oil is giving you the best results? Are you bleaching at all?

Sprink, I used Lowes brand teak oil "WATCO TEAK OIL". It came highly recommended by a sailboat owner I know. I didn't use any bleach and learned yesturday that I should have just pressure washed it to get all the mold off. Either way would have been quicker than sanding but my platform wood was in great shape but had heavy mold & alagee and rough to the touch on top... I'll post pics this evening of mine one more coat of oil and it'll be done...

Yup I have to do this too. Have the teak oil waiting I'll get the brand tonight. Gator are you saying pressure wash it rather than sand? Mine doesn't have moss or anything, just rough.

Sorry Jason for the highjack

Mac, I would pressure wash it then use a fine paper on a D/A sander to smooth out the roughness. Take a look at Formula's his looks great. Mine turned out a little darker. I sent the brackets of to be powder coated red to match the hull and add a more modern look to it.
