yes you are correct , with those hulls in 8 to 10 ft seas the best we could maintain is around 50 mph and I can still feel It now. also Brownie is right, Guys like him created this business and these ocean speeds with great boats. I have been lucky to have met them. sonny miller

Think your Dad knows Barron Clancy
Barron was from the Lake George Area and was friends with Keith Hazel. I met him while he was living out in the San Francisco Bay area before he moved to Vero Beach Fl. Barron knew alot of the racers from way back then
Thank you

It spiked in the Early 80's when Arnesons came out and then they realized they could put a Raised Mercruiser sterndrive on an Extension Box and use it as a Surface Drive. I think now that we have seen a 46' blow over at only 150 (or less) in Key West speeds will not go much faster than the 210's. The data on the "My Way" at the shootout last year said they topped 235 mph, I don't think they'll do that again after seeing the results of KW. (But I Could be wrong, Again )

"surfacing props" was a concept in existence long before Howard made his first drawing. He was simply trying to get the power to the surfacing propeller with out a stern drive of any kind...although he basically used a different kind of transom mounted sterndrive to accomplish this. His real accomplishment was reducing parasitic drag in the process. This playing field has gone back and forth ever since between dry sumping M/C's and adopting "fixed" installations on Arneson/BPM/Buzzi adaptations.
