Joe,,, Klym wanted around a 31' hull to complement his 27' Magnum copies. He found it in the 31 CC Excalibubr, thats what he took a mold off of with a few deck changes.. My Friend Terry had the LaSalle Mirage back in the 80's with the big WB tabs, I remember him using them a little to much on time & she stuffed. Some said the big tabs worked to good.

I believe the original owner was Wally Harper [Lil Smidgen] he sold it to Lee Bomar. here are some pic's from that reunion, from the waterline up she looked great. I'm sure Jerry cleaned up the electrical problems but the gel on the bottom was tuff.

It's ruff Joe the bottom was blistered bad the last time I saw it. The owner before Jerry kept it in the water at Millers. That guy came to the first reunion with it, he had electrical issues with it & had to be jumped started. After that I think he just let it sit in the well all summer, when Chip pulled it was lumpy. Before that summer that owner put a lot of money in it repainting the name & numbers on her.

Like you I'm a fan of all the old stuff and the people like us who see them as still cool enough to keep around.
So I'm pulling for him to make it nice again.

Hull #1,2 & 3
Kevlar ,,, I dont think so, Joe to early 1976, but was built late 1975. They were hulls # 1 & 2, & # 3 was the La Salle thats still here on the Lake St Clair, OSO member [justbassing] has it & it's a very heavy polyester lay up. My first Mirage was a 1976 that Bob Johson [Eagel trailer] bought new & raced, again heavy polyester glass lay up.
Klym killed the Wolverine Mirage, tried to stretch it to pull a mold off it & broke it beyond repair. Kenny Black only had one Mirage he sold to Gerry Girschner who only raced it a few time with Red Crain. Jerry stripped it for the powertrain to use in his Active cat Blue Max.
