I never seen the Gentry Eagle video before. Thanks for sharing! I wonder if steps would've made a difference on that beast?

Not sure it's still available but the Eagle is or was for sale after a massive renovation.

So has a complete inventory been done yet? With maybe a web site listing all items with photos and estimated value/prices? That would be handy and very interesting.
Cheers |
hope he didn't find all the mindless chatter a waste of his time.
I think someone made him a hell of a deal and bought all the stuff.
I may have missed it...but I didn't see Bob Teaques name mentioned here as someone Shaun should contact.... Bob T & Bob Nordskog paired up to race against Tom Gentry many times... I would think Teaque would be interested... or at least shed some light on the items in these containers....
Yes I still have/own the 50 Gentry Aluminum Cat in Pittsburg about 45 miles from containers. I'm happy to sell her to someone who wants to restore her right. Shaun would be the first person to contact and nail down inventory and drives. As a package she might finally run again! The link he posted is current on google. She has a really nice tilting trailer and is in nice condition with all original livery still in order.

RIP Tom Gentry, what a tragic loss of a GREAT Boat racer and Gentleman. |
Hi guys,
Sorry it has taken me so long to post anything new. Life and my day job got in the way of things :( I went by the shop today and opened up one of the cargo containers which hadn't been opened before and found some amazingly cool stuff. Took pictures of the new stuff and a couple photos of some of the stuff I've posted before. Some of the new stuff 1) Cool painting of one of the boats 2) A big-block turbo charged, fuel injected monster we hadn't seen before in a crate 3) A 1963 283 Chevy Impala! Gentry's which has been in storage since at least 1994 its in primo condition (hard to get to sorry only could get one photo its way the heck in the back of the container) 4) And the best for last... what looks to be a scale model used for testing his hull design! Hydrodynamic testing? It was way cool. Tons of adjustable pieces on it and what looks like sensors on the outer edges. Anyways. I'm doing my best to get out to the shop this summer to take more photos. We still have two more cargo containers to open up yet! My goal is to find time to pull everything out and catalog it so that anyone interested in buying this stuff can know what they are getting. Please contact me if your interested in this stuff or can help identify components. Please be patient! My day job takes most of my time and the shop is almost 3 hours away from where I live. Thanks guys, keep in touch and enjoy shaun Cool painting of one of his boats http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-23.jpg New photos of the two engines in the office area. Had been hidden behind at bookshelf! http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-33.jpg New engine we found still in its crate. Looks to be a BBC twin turbo, fuel injected muther of an engine w/ Mercury Marine ECU http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-42.jpg More of the BBC http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-22.jpg Some random stuff we found in the new cargo container, not sure what this is?? http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...5832740660.jpg More random stuff, what the heck is this? Its got Gentry label on it http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-41.jpg Photo with todays date I drew with my finger in the dust for those who still doubt this stuff is legit! :) http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...07/photo-1.jpg Again more random Gentry labeled stuff. Any idea what this is?? They are HUGE and there are a ton of them. Some which look unmachined! http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-31.jpg Unmachined version of the previous photo sitting next to the Gentry labeled ones. These have no markings on them. What are they? http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-21.jpg Another gentry labeled device. Looks same as above Red transmission type "thing".. there are about 10 of these what is it? http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...5832972963.jpg There are about 20 of these, outdrives? http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...5833055902.jpg Finally, a car here s something I DO KNOW ABOUT... how about a 1963 283 4 speed, like new condition interior and outside (minus the dust of course). Also Tom Gentry's stored since 1994 http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...7/photo-12.jpg And the best for last, or at least the coolest thing I think we found today. A scale model of one of Gentry's boats. Looks like it was used for Hydrodynamic testing? Has adjustments all over the place and what look to be sensors http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...07/photo-5.jpg http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...5831911712.jpg http://nascarimpala.com/wp-content/u...5831952745.jpg Thanks again guys. shaun |
That is something else!!!
As the old saying goes "I'd be like a kid in a candy store" make sure you post a ton of photos, no one is doubting this stuff is the real deal.
That is so f....... cool! That Chevy will will bring quite a bit at auction. Now get to work opening the rest of the crates. I'd love to see pics of the Chevy after it's cleaned up. Stop touching it until the abrasive dust is cleaned off!
I thought I woke up , walked to the couch, and logged on OSO to see what's up. I guess I'm wrong. I must still be in bed dreaming. Just read the whole thread. Wow !

holy friggin crap that is some cool stuff. Its like unearthing Tuts tomb but for car (boat) guys lol. I have to agree that scale model is pretty bad azz, it actually looks similar in design to Al Copelands Phenom but years earlier. I love that "Gentry" detail cast into everything ( logo slightly reminiscent of Gru industries lol) . :D
PM sent.
Thanks, Dean |
The Chevy is a 1964. Not a '63. Can't wait to see it all cleaned up.
I have the Gentry Eagle 50 Catamaran that used most of that stuff in containers. You can buy the hull and trailer and do a period correct restoration. The boat is near the containers. She is in Pittsburg CA and the hull is still in excellent shape. Originally a Cougar cat modified many times by Tom Gentry and crew. This is the World Champ boat and speed record holder.

Nice to see this thread awake again.

That Small Block Chevy with the velocity stacks and Donovan valve covers looks pretty cool, I wonder what it all is, cu.in, compression, ect...
Have no idea, would love to know ourselves. It looks like all new stuff though. We were thinking of putting it into a car but everything is water jacketed would need 1000gal tank of water to keep her cool :).. we just want this stuff to go to a good home, to someone who will appreciate and enjoy it for what it is in a boat for many years to come.

What an awesome project for someone with pockets farrrrrrrr deeper than mine.
wonder if there are any manifolds and turbos in there NOT bolted to an engine he would part with? Very cool historic find either way.
yep, just ask :) Once we inventory the stuff everything is up for grabs. As long as it goes to a good home to someone who will enjoy it. I believe there are at least 20+ unmachined gentry turbo housings, maybe more.

dang that's a lot of housings lol.. any complete turbos in there that could be put with a pair of manifolds to make a setup? pm me any details or contact info I might be interested in a pair,
Just dreaming about how cool a twin turbo would be in the 24 cig :eekdrop:
im definitely thinking they would be nice on a 502 mag in my fever lol
those raw castings are drop boxes for drives and the big housing with the three shaft inputs are a two engine to one drive splitter just like the ones in the 48 Jesse James boat .
witch we were in the process of rigging with Gentry engines when Tom had his accident and they closed down.
