Cary29, great looking boat!!!

Is anyone here watching the new Netflix original series "Bloodline" set in Islamorada, the Florida Keys? Just after the opening credits in the fourth episode, there's a scene with a red Magnum 27' Sport anchored just off the beach...followed by an interior scene of 8 or 10 illegal immigrants locked in the "cabin" (obviously a set, not the real boat) then it clips back to the Magnum running offshore, on fire and ultimately exploding. Next scene, the salvaged hull is being investigated by police while hanging from a forklift or hoist, and the cut in half and burned boat is actually a 1976 29' Cary, with the telltale Jean Claude Simon deck...which had been for sale as a project in Fort Lauderdale for ages. Shame seeing it cut in half and burned! They couldn't have used a Bayliner?! :angry-smiley-044:

Yes I remember seeing that Cary for sale a while ago. It's a shame that most people don't realize what these boats really are. The first Cigarette Don built was actually a Cary. He had a no compete agreement that kept him from building it himself or having it be a Cigarette. The the 32' boat called "The Cigarette" was a Cary. The quality of the building and ride is unbelievable. Bob Latham was picking up the boat I have as they were taking the sign off the building and putting up Blackfin. Those are the original Cary hulls. You can read countless articles about the hulls and the offshore capabilities. Brownie rigged my first Cary which was a 1973. Hull number 3 with staggered number III drives. 482 ci special kiekaffer motors. The rods actually had that forged on them. There were only 25 of those engines made. Cool stuff to find out.

BTW that boat I had purchased also from the original owner and it's a 32' with a Jean claude simon deck as well.

I am intimately familar with the history, and tried to buy your old 32' as a matter of fact - way back when, when it was in Dania, at American Offshore Marina. All white with a grey/silver bootstripe, three man stand up, Target trailer...remember it like it was yesterday! Greg Gluck and Jerry Fusco were the salesmen/brokers there in those days. Probably 1999 or thereabouts? I remember the boat came from the 1000 Islands area!

If I'm no mistaken mythbusters destroyed what looked like a Cary ,the boat had the tell tale deck.

A guy named John ... Bought it finally and is restoring it with his son. They are in South Carolina I think.

Yeah it's funny how the very early built race boats seem to have had the flat decks and the Jean Claude decks came a little later. Most every one that I have seen that wasn't a dedicated race boat was a Jean Claude deck.
