Yeah it's funny how the very early built race boats seem to have had the flat decks and the Jean Claude decks came a little later. Most every one that I have seen that wasn't a dedicated race boat was a Jean Claude deck.

At the 1975 Ceder Point Ohio race I talked to Jean Claude as my friend was racing this 26E Cary. We were docked next to the Beep Beep Modified class Cary so when Jean came by he ask us how we liked the lager cabin the 26E had, we replied it was useable. Because we were racing in the production class we sleeped on the boat @ out of town races to keep the cost down, it worked. Many of the production boats like the Magnum sport @ that time had flat decks & unusable cabins. From what I remember Jean thought this idea would work, but this look was not for everyone.

Yeah people love it or hate it. My wife thinks it's art decco looking. It is more usable but my setup is a floor level with the cockpit. You have to crawl through the bolsters but it's not bad once you get in.

I just lowered the price to $40k on the boat. That's a really good deal for someone considering I have that much in the engines and props alone. Thanks Cary. I can send more pics to anyone interested.

Be patient my friend, everything has it's worth. Your boat is a very special piece, done to a level beyond, the right buyer will come regardless of where you price it. For that money I should buy it.

Thanks Peter I appreciate the kind words. I'm just trying to be realistic with the economy being what it is. Give me a call sometime. I've been thrashing on the Bertram trying to get the motors back in and the interior as well. Hope to be at the River in a week or so.

Been quietly sitting here watching this thread of yours. Just don't do something you may live to regret, that boat is one hell of a piece, one that you may never be able to replace, just saying. The Bertram is another thing all together, buuuuut!!!

We may be into August before we hit the river for the season, Samantha has some surgery set for the end of this month then the looong recovery period. Little preventative work on the Biotch, maybe get cozy with the Whipple folks, then back in August. Why I am touching these things now is beyond me, Memorial Day weekend the boat put down numbers it has never run ever, but all the experts say it is time for some work.

Well you will do it right. Tell Sam we said hello and God Bless. We will get together in August then. Thanks for the sound advice Pete. Your thoughts are always welcome.
