Cary 29
Not many people know what a Cary marine offshore hull is . I'm thinking of selling mine so I thought I'd post my contact information here rather than in the classified section for anyone interested to talk about it. It was Bob Lathams personal boat for 30 years. It has so many custom features. Email me for pics and information. Send me a phone number and I can explain. Too much to type about this special boat. Thank you.

Cary a very cool boat, Like the 29' Katrina or the larger Whopper pacing the race start.
No mine is like the Jean claude simon deck ribbed. Actually measures 29'9". Standard type offshore layout bolsters and rear bench seat. But 4 fuel tanks and built to race.
Please post some pics sounds like a really cool boat. May be tempted to make a switch.
I don't know how to post pictures but email me and I'll send some. Not much of a computer guy. Thanks Cary

It was an I/O boat that I converted to run the outboards. It runs 70mph. 8' beam and weighs between 7-8000 lbs. It was the last Cary built . Bob Latham was driving away with it when the sign on the building was being removed to change to Blackfin. It was Bob's boat for30 years. I am good friends with him and Kathy.

We bought a 32 Blackfin in 1982. But I remember the 28 and 33, which were both Cary's... I dug the double console inboard fishing boats.
More of the cockpit... |

I just wonder about the center of gravity being thrown off w/ setback bracket & 2 OB's hanging....Did you face any negative handling when you went with the conversion? Also, what type of bracket are you using and how much setback??...........I haven't committed yet and would like to know more of the + & - 's..................Twin OB's would really negate the crampt engine (or lack of) space with twin I/O's plus winterizing would be a breeze for us northeasterners................not to mention the salt water errosion with I/O's.............lots of +'s |

Anytime Scippy it was a pleasure to share my experience with you. Hopefully you will enjoy the next step in rigging your Magnum. You won't be sorry if you do your homework. God Bless
Cary 29,
You have one of the absolutely most beautiful old boats I've seen in years. Not only is it beautifully rigged, but the colors, patterns and hardware are timeless. In fact, it doesn't look the slightest bit "old" like some old boats do. Nice work! Tom |
Thanks for the kind words Tom. I appreciate the gesture s from people who can understand the quality of these older boats. The ride, styling and solid construction that is worth rebuilding, especially with some of the new hardware and efficient power.
I've decided to ask $45k for the boat. I have over $75,000 in it without considering the time spent laboring for the love of it. It has 111 hours on the motors. The hull not much more as Bob Latham had it since new and only had it on a lift at his house for one year. It was in his shop on a trailer it's whole life. My heated garage the rest of the time. It's a pretty special boat and I am reluctantly letting it go. Please call me anytime with questions or concerns. Thanks Cary. (315)382-8828. Email

My friends 26E Cary was a great boat, the 29' can only be better.
Thanks h20 that is an awesome shot. Skippy I enjoyed the talk as well. Make sure you check out the pages I told you about in Searace and the Don Aronow book. That will explain a great deal about the Cary marine questions
I'm going to place a classified ad soon. But if anyone is interested or knows of someone who might be please contact me. My info is in prior posts. Thanks for the kind words again. Cary
I'm having a hard time posting pictures on the classified ad. I think they are too many pixels but it says to upload one at a time if that's the case. I have been trying to do so but it is not working..... I don't know how to shrink them or what ever. Does anyone know how to help me.
Thanks Cary |

Thanks Skippy. I appreciate the help. I will try to figure out how to upload the pics on the listing. If anyone knows the way to get them up please let me know. Thanks Cary
Why are the exhaust tips still on ? Is there a purpose ?
No the tips were custom made for the boat by Bob and I started to remove them but realized they were glued and looked too good to patch up so I left them. It would be easy for someone to put motors back in if necessary.
I was finally able to post pictures after reducing the pixels etc. Not much of a computer guy. Thanks to Greg for the pm sent I appreciate the advice.
Skippy - you should seriously consider this boat and get out on the water.

Skippy, I may consider parting it out so we can discuss options later. Thanks Cary
