The print through is just a byproduct of very high performance laminate systems where resin ratio is optimized (minimized) and fibers are driven very close together as well as close to the surface. Epoxy boats dont have a print control layer of mat (weak link when used in epoxy) or use gelcoat to control the fine surface print. When painted you can get them to look good for the first couple weeks but a few good thermal cycles brings it right back out. Not much you can do about and its not the fault of the painter or the builder just the nature of the beast.

Vac bagged boats can have more fine surface print through for many of the reasons mentioned above. A lot of progress has been made to minimize it in production style boats but in the very high perfomance systems it can still be a problem.

So Gel thickness wouldn't be a solution for this?
