The Dual Prop drives are starting to come along. Stripped, glass beaded, etching primer, interprotect 2000 and oyster white epoxy. Cut off the rivited cavitation plate area where the flappers where, filled in the water pickup slots. Lots of work. The main thing was to get rid of the water pickups. These act as parachutes when not being used.

The previous owner had them behind 400hp well built small blocks. They told me some impressive numbers. I've resealed a few. They are built well. As an original restoration the boat came with the Speedmasters but parts are scarce. The dual prop drives will look good and the ss props have been worked to give some nice rpms and torque.

Also had a E drive / speed master on one of my boats back in the eights , had good luck with that too .
Be interesting to see the performance # s when it's all done , I know it will be a joy to drive with the twin DP s .

I helped a good friend of mine Bob Sheer get this fully restored Magnum Maltese a few years ago, that was running Volvo dual prop drives. Bob raced many Magnums back in the day & was very surprised how nice it ran with it's 383 small blocks. The only down side was when it was restored a inexpensive steering system was installed that had serious problems after 55mph as the boat would hook to the right. This was fixed by installing a good external hydraulic steering system, after that all was good. Bob sold this Maltese to another friend of mine & it's back on Lake St Clair running great with it's Volvo DP drives...

Mine is stamped into the gelcote (upper right hand corner of transom) MAG273410476........................ possibly your hull ID #'s were sanded off in a transom replace.
Your registration also carries the vin or Hull #'s......for instance my hull numbers state (MAG27) = hull model ..(341) = is the build number ...(0476) = month & year keel laid
Since we both have a 1976 sport ..........I was curious and interested to know what build hull number you have and if it was close to mine..............Scippy
