Looks like it's somewhere around 8 for change and 4 against. (Should have made this a poll)
Maybe this will help.
I made use of my superior MS Paint skills and came up this this:
The fluorescent lighting in the shop isn't doing my boat any favors but you get the idea.
Old:

New:

If I had a white glove box and a white cabin door/hatch, it would be a no-brainer.
As it is now, there's a lot of dark surfaces that kinda balance out the cockpit.
I was leaning towards modern, but now I'm moving back towards old school.

Now we see the full perspective and I'm inclined to agree, the white will look out of place with your black glove compartment and cabin door. Can you upgrade them as well, make everything white and perhaps add some blue accents or trim? I know that's a good way to spend lots of extra money but isn't that why we own boats?!
Wildman's idea of painting is a good option but I think you have to match port and starboard dash and probably cabin door too. As for Ballistic Beak, his was easy, already had the white on the port side! Both those are very nice examples.

I like the black, it goes with everything else.
But like Rak said I painted both the glove box door as well as the switch panel and added a red fountain with bolt to the cabin door to bring it together.
Lots more work.

Joe,
Nice looking Dash, where did you get the red switch covers?

zz28zz - I did not try to match the colors - so there is a subtle difference, but much less of a difference than the white gel and black dash

I really dig the large Fountain logo across the top of the hatch - I think I'm going to copy it.

go with the new dash. take your other panels to a local plastics co. and have them make new white panels for you. it will be one of the easiest and cheapest updates you can do for your boat. if the boat was a mint 60's or 70's model that you wanted to keep the authenticity then i could see where you are coming from but the 80's and 90's aren't on the rotisserie yet. it will also make your boat more salable when the time comes imo
