Nice story to follow. Yes I agree, I wished we live 2-3 lifetimes to keep the history and be able to restore and upkeep all that we have. Life is short. Get the next generation involved and the importance of history. Thanks for sharing the story and the Find.

There are lots of boats like that just sitting and rotting. Every once in awhile, somebody nostalgic will buy one and set forth in restoring. After "investing" a bunch of money, most find out that they are a money pit, and the project gets abandoned. At best, they would end up with an old boat with old technology that would not hold a candle to the boats of today, worth about 1/10 of what you put in it. Selling it down the road is next to impossible.
That said, all of the old pictures and stories should be shared so that the memories can live on!

I’ve meant to stop and look at this thing for years and finally did today, knowing it’s worth nothing and, having had a couple interactions with Ned over the years, also knowing he’d think it was worth gold. The place has been abandoned for the last 6 months or so with some old junk vehicles scattered around and a couple New boats with the OB’s removed. More going on there than meets the eye. Wouldn’t be surprised if the boats were on consignment, motors got “removed” and now it’s all with the lawyers. Just doesn’t look right. In general though I wouldn’t pay much for a boat being used as mother nature’s planter.....

I usually don't go down 17 that often, but I was in the neighborhood last Thursday and again this past Monday. I saw the same thing. Looks like the place is closed up, with only a few boats on the lot. The last time I talked to Ned he made a comment that the trailer alone was worth $10K. So you are right on par about the value he sees in the boat. I would like to know what's going on though. Sometimes deals can be had in situations like this. The only way I would be interested is if things went really cheap. The boat is still a cool piece of history, but would cost a fortune just to repower. Not to mention any other surprises.

i thought I wouldn’t mind having it if he was realistic (ie. - sure $500 sounds fair) but that won’t happen so it will just rot away. Let’s be honest you’ve got to drop $1k into tires just to tow it home!!!
