The engines are EFI's, not sure why they came with the Optimax stickers on covers. The graphics are paint, name is a sticker. The boat will porpoise if the tabs are all the way up and you overtrim. Since we changed to K planes, the boat runs much better. Very stable and comfortable ride.

The 30' CC bounced which is why they stepped the hull (only stepped hull in the fleet beside the massive 4400). The 30 SD was never built in a straight hull, only stepped.

The 30' CC ran well until larger power outboards came on the scene which pushed them to higher speeds which caused them to start bouncing. 50MPH boat did fine, 65MPH boat didn't do so well. Some have had modifications to minimize the bouncing but the real fix was stepping the hull.

The first stepped hulls had some issues that have been solved as far as I know. Hull design is of John Cosker, of Mystic powerboat fame.
Gotcha

Thought the original 28 (now a 30) was from an Apache bottom and I demoed the original 28 and what a great ride through Gov't Cut and out the jetties into the ocean with 3-4 rollers offshore back in '95.

Anyhow, I still have 23 months left overseas. So no boat in my immediate future.

But, if you don't mind could you answer a few questions about the boat for me for future reference (plus it will give you a free TTT).

What is the actual hull length? 28 + the bracket makes it 30 or is the actual hull 30 feet? Is it 8' or 8' 6" wide?

What is the fuel consumption like?

What size prop does it turn? 23, 24?

Last but not least the million dollar question...whats 70+ mean? Whats a real world everyday speed with fuel and people?

John

Wow...Funny how things go and time flies. I had forgotten about posting this some twenty months ago. Anyhow, as I said before...looking at 30 Concepts still. But this time I'm headed home in 25 days. Crazy, I just came across this post again trolling posts in the Concept forum!

Hope to find a nice 30 with 250 opti's in the 50K range in the next couple months!

BTW...seeing the Concept poker run pics has really gave me the fever! Ready to be boating again!

John
