Need hatch built

I need someone who can build me a lighter hatch, or convert to butterfly set up. I would like lightweight material of some sort. Maybe Carbon Fiber.

I built one out of Starboard, and one out of pvc board. The pvc was lighter, cheaper, and best of all, you can glue it together.

Re: Need hatch built

Gdave the hatch is not right. It took 3 of us just to raise it up to stab the front engine.

Its an early 80's model 38' Scarab that at one time had butterfly hatches.

Now it is one big heavy heavy muther f^cker.........its not right..

he needs a flat style...he is not man enough for blowers......one day but no today

Need flat hatch for my scarab. I can send dimensions. I need solution to all of this weight. We took out forward motor on sunday. "second time" I don't know what's going to happen if I have to take out the rear motor.

This thing has got to weigh over 750-900 lbs. I do need to be able to put people on it though. It is a sun deck. If I could get it to 300lbs or less I would be satisfied. My boat is actually on boat classifieds under "38 Scarab staggerds fresh rebuilds". Look at the pics. I can send better pics if needed.

Jeff

Re: Need hatch built

it looks flat in the pik, with a pad on it, I cant imagine how it weighs 750+ unless somebody used a steel core...if worse comes to worse get some 1/4" ply cris cross the seams, double it up with some west system throw a couple layers of glass over it sand and paint..should be well under 300#

Had to delete earlier reply because I'm an idiot. That Nida-Core looks like good stuff. I'm going to keep looking into it. Had to erase your link because I am to new it says to post a url.
