I can see that going bad right quick by someone hitting the system with 100psi straight form the compressor tank and blowing up the system......nasty mess to clean up!

REALLY OLD thread revival here.
I've used my shop vac in the past. It works fine for the task. And it's not a that horrible of a mess to clean up as long as it's majority #1. And since they all have macerators, #2 isn't so bad either. It's all liquid. Just open the shop vac up afterward, hose it off, and coat with Lysol.

On a serious note, a shop vac to a sealed 5 gallon bucket

I use this to filter the air in my sand blaster, the heavy media stays in the blue bucket .
dedicate a hose and a 5 gallon bucket to use for your cleaning duty.
