Since I have a septic tank at the house, I'm considering setting up a pump out station. I hate having to go to the marinas/gas stations to get it done. Try not to use it a whole lot, but with weekend trips it does sometime get used. Anyone done this? If so, how did you do it? I don't think I need a whole commercial vacuum set up. Seen a couple of manual pump systems with holding tanks, but seem kind of cheap. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nick

I have the septic tank part figured out. My question is how to get it out of the boat without buying a $5,000 vacuum like the marinas have. It could be straight injection into septic or into a holding tank of some sort then into the septic. Any ideas? Has anyone used one of the manual pump vacuums.
Something like this might work. What do you think?

The small macerator pumps chew it up before the holding tank installed inside the boat. If you want to set up a pump out at home you will need a macerator pump large enough to suck up hill from the boat to the sewer line. I have a complete set-up 120v Macerator pump wire rapped hose and connection to the boat. Mine is all new I never installed it, I'll get the size pump they recommended for you tomorrow

I've been doing it for years using an old rug shampoo'er. The fitting is too small, so i wrap a wet cloth around it to seal the hose to the sewer outlet. One tip... be sure not to overfill the canister. When it overfills it spits a little bit of the excrament before the shutoff valve kicks in.
I've also used a plain old wet/dry vac too. But I would be sure to dedicate that particular vac for pump out use only.
