Unhappy 454 with trs

ive have dropped a valve in #3 cylinder. i need to pull my engine, i have an 454 with br transmission. would i need to seperate at the bell housing, or at the transmission to pull the engine, whats quickest or easiest way to do this? any info would be greatful

Is there another reason your pulling the motor ? The heads can be taken off with it still in the boat.

I left my transmissions in when I pulled my engines. Just unbolted from the bell housing, undid motor mounts, slid forward. Make sure you get the bolt behind the starter in the bell housing. Don't ask me how I know. Put some support under the tranny when you get the engine out.

Did the valve take out a piston?

thanks much, yes the valve decentagreted my piston beat to hell and back cylinder wall cracked, i already have another block just need to get this one out, thanks again for the help!

Lots easier to pull with the transmission attached. You'll thank me later....

Take the drive off, unbolt enginemounts and take her out !!!!!!!

Same way it will go back in and then stick the drive back on !!!!!!!!!!!
Total time..maybe 1 hour !!!!!

Don't you need the drive/transmission alignment tool if you remove the tranny? I have one drive that takes 2 people and 2 hours to put on, it is a B!tch!!! The other TRS drive I can put it on and bolted up in 15 mins by myself.

Just did mine take out with trans took me about 2.5 hours at my shop with air tools and a chain fall. I bagged all my bolts and marked each one so assembly is easy. Im not sure about an Hour not sure how thats possable even with air tools and chaion fall.
